Ozimals Stores are Moving!

Hello, Ozimals friends!

Aeron in Munchkinland ~ Magic of Oz, March 2014

Big news! The Ozimals Main Store and the Ozimals Puffling Store are moving! Our celebration of Easter this year will be taking place on Magic Of Oz, with the participation of the Munchkinland merchants, so we're moving our stores there too!

The Ozimals sim will be whisked away by Oz's mysterious and magical winds, much like Magic of Oz itself was in 2012. Only the Witches know where it is heading and what will go on there once it is inaccessible to non-witches, but we'll be sure to share anything we hear ;)

Shop bunnies getting their first glimpse out the new store window!

When Magic of Oz reappeared, it was completely revamped into a new vision of the land of Oz. If you've never visited, it's a terrific place to take pictures or just wander along the Yellow Brick Road, from the Emerald City to the Witch's Castle to Munchkinland. The shops in Munchkinland feature both long-time Magic of Oz merchants like katat0nik, silent sparrow, and Schadenfreude... and newer additions like Fallen Gods and Half-Deer! We're excited to have our stores there now, too!

Pufflings exploring the Yellow Brick Road!

Much, MUCH more information about Easter will be announced soon, though you might want to familiarize yourself with Magic of Oz's nooks and crannies before then. (Take a walk, and think, "If I were an egg... where would I hide?") In the meantime, here are your new landmarks!

Ozimals Saint Patrick's Dance & Bunny Bingo!

Hello, Ozimals friends!

The Ozimals Saint Patrick's Dance will be this Saturday, March 22, from noon until 2 pm SLT. Irish or not, wearing green or not, we'd love to see you there! (Please note, I cannot promise that those *not* wearing green will escape being pinched.)

DJ Parker Janick will treat us to Celtic goodness, and there'll be exclusive prizes and fun--please join us! The dance will be held on the Ozimals sim, right next to the Bingo Field, and we'll be sure to remind the inworld groups on Saturday!

As a reminder of our previous post, we'll be hosting Ozimals Bunny Bingo in the days leading up to the dance. Our prize this time is a set of two 100% Lurve Potions to each winner. These potions--the same ones available from the Bunnybury vendor--will bring any bunny to 100% Love instantly, so if the bunny is out of cooldown, it can immediately breed without having to build up Love. These would be great for those new 2.8 bunnies you just know are hiding something!

The Bunny Bingo schedule:
Thursday, March 20, 6 pm SLT
Friday, March 21, noon SLT

Come and play with us at the Bunny Bingo Field!

Bunny 2.8's new traits are starting to appear--if you haven't seen them yet, check out the Ozimals Flickr pool for some great snapshots! And remember: you still have more than a week for Padraig 2014 holiday elite kindling! The holiday clock stops at midnight SLT on Friday night, March 28th.

Saint Patrick's Week at Ozimals!

Hello, Ozimals friends!

It's been so good to see the Padraig 2014 elites and the new Bunnybury exclusive bunnies on Flickr and out on the grid! We hope you are enjoying them too, and are as excited as we are to see the new genetic traits begin to pop up this week!

As promised in the release notes for 2.8, we have further festivities scheduled...

First, Ozimals Bingo returns! We're hosting two Bingo sessions this time:

Thursday, March 20, 6 pm SLT
Friday, March 21, noon SLT

This time the prize for each winner will be a set of two 100% Lurve Potions, enabling any two bunnies to jump straight to 100% Love. (Though if they are still in cooldown they won't be able to breed until that's over; it's best to use potions on bunnies who have begun to gain but that you just CAN'T WAIT for!)

Bingo will be held at the meeting space on Ozimals---we'd be delighted to see you there!

Second, the Ozimals Saint Patrick's Dance! We'll post again with more information, but mark your calendar--the dance is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 22, from noon--2 pm SLT. Dancing, prizes, and fun await!

Mandatory Bunny Updates

Hello, Ozimals friends!

Every time we update, we announce whether the update is "Mandatory" or "Non-Mandatory" - and for mandatory updates like 2.8, we like to give you as much advance warning as possible, like last week's blog post/notices, which were very specific about how this update would work.

Mandatory updates have always worked the same way: once we release the update, bunnies stop eating and need to be updated. Since a well-fed bunny takes 72 hours to get hungry enough to hibernate, even once the update is out, owners do have a few days' window of opportunity.

If you have bunnies hibernating in your inventory, they will need to be updated once they are inworld and out of hibernation. Until then, they are unaffected. This, too, has always been the case.

Ozimals Bunny Update 2.8!

Hello, Ozimals friends!

Welcome to Bunny Update 2.8! Please read these notes carefully before you begin updating!

Update 2.8 is a mandatory update. What this means is that your bunnies will stop eating immediately if not updated within the 72 hours of release, and each food you have rezzed out will message you once a day to remind you to update. If your bunnies are not updated to 2.8, they will not be able to breed with updated or new bunnies OR produce holiday elite-capable nests. Remember, a bunny takes 72 hours to go from 0% hunger to 100% and hibernation, so you have three days to update... just don't forget!

If your bunnies do hibernate all you need to do is give them food and wait 24 hours for them to come out of hibernation and then use the 2.8 updater.

* New genetic traits!
* New natural elites!
* New Bunnybury Exclusive bunny!
* Holiday kindling for Saint Patrick's Day!
* New lower prices for Level 2 Premium and Level 3 Archetype foods!
* Shorter racing cooldown timer!

* Bunnybury accounting change!
* Bingo! Dancing!

New genetic traits!

All new 2.8 starter bunnies purchased from Ozimals have the chance of carrying the new genetic traits we've added in this update. By "starter bunnies", we mean the nests in the packs available at the shops and on Marketplace: pet packs, pair packs, and warren packs.

* New natural elites!

Any 2.8 bunny - new or updated - who is otherwise eligible to produce a natural elite can now produce one of the NEW ADDITIONS! Information about how to breed natural elites is on the Ozimals wiki... also, keep reading this post to learn about new lower-priced Level 3 Archetype food, which doubles an eligible bunny's chance to produce a natural elite.

New Bunnybury Exclusive bunny!

We have replaced the previous Bunnybury Exclusive bunny; its traits are now retired (English Spot Too Antimatter / Neptunite). The new bunny is in the Bunnybury vendor now, and has THREE--count 'em!--new genetic traits that will not be available except from these bunnies and their descendants.

The Bunnybury Random Nest and Nest With Increased Chance of Recessives will be updated a week after the update, on Monday, March 17th, and will then also include the chance of 2.8's new traits.

Holiday kindling for Saint Patrick's Day!

Holiday elite bunnies are special rewards for active bunny breeders--if you've not been with us for previous holiday kindles, here is how they work!

The holiday kindling window begins this Thursday night at midnight SLT--that's the evening of March 13th--and closes at midnight SLT on Friday night, March 28th. The nest's hovertext will not tell you whether or not the nest is an elite; it must be kindled to find out. When you kindle a nest created during the date range window, you will see a "No Elite" button in its menu--pressing this button makes the nest ignore its chance to produce a holiday elite, so use it carefully, if at all! Remember, if a nest has a chance to be a natural elite AND a chance to be a holiday elite, natural elite wins-and the "No Elite" button only turns off the holiday elite chance, not the natural elite chance, if one is present.

The genetics of potential holiday elite parents do not affect eligibility; both parents must be updated to the current version, and previously the nest must simply have been created and kindled during the date window. However, we have made a change to the eligibility requirements: to produce a holiday elite, both parents must have zero hibernations.

To check the number of hibernations on any bunny: if the bunny is not yours, click the bunny and choose "Ozaria" from its menu. If the bunny is yours, click "Support" and then "Ozaria". This will bring up a web page showing the bunny's number of hibernations, so it's easy to check if a bunny you own or are considering buying is eligible to produce holiday elites!

New lower prices for Level 2 Premium and Level 3 Archetype foods!

We have lowered the prices for all versions of Level 2 Premium and Level 3 Archetype omni food. If you'd like a thorough explanation of how these foods benefit your bunnies and make breeding easier, please see our previous blog post, Ozimals Food Bonuses Explained !

Shorter racing cooldown timer!

Users of the Bunny Games Racetrack have lamented the twenty-minute cooldown timer for each bunny between his or her races. We've shortened this timer for 2.8 bunnies to five minutes, so now you can prove the dominance of your bunnies over all challengers in a much shorter time! Racetracks are still available from the shops and from Marketplace, but if you'd like to test one out first, the Shamrock Marketplace Bunny Racing Track is open to the public!

Bunnybury accounting change!

Hibernations now have an impact on the number of coins the Mayor of Bunnybury grants you when you turn in a bunny. Previously, a bunny earned one coin for each week of its life. This is still true, but if the bunny has hibernated once, the total coin award is cut by 50%. For further hibernations, divide the number of weeks by the number of hibernations to find the total coin award. Thus, Peter, a bunny who has lived 700 days, or 100 weeks, but has hibernated four times, will earn 25 coins.

Bunnies who retain their asterisks in their hovertext next to the number of generations remaining--in other words, have eaten nothing but Level 3 Archetype food for their entire adult lives--have always earned twice the amount of coins from the Mayor. This is still true, but with one minor change: the coins will not double until all of the bunny's generations are exhausted. If Peter, in the above example, was eating Level 3, he would earn 50 coins, if the owner sent him to Bunnybury once all generations were gone.

* Bingo! Dancing!

Later this week we will be announcing a schedule for Bunny Bingo and for our Saint Patrick's Dance! Both of these events are great ways to meet other bunny breeders and show off your bunnies, so please watch the blog and the groups for updates!

****************IMPORTANT NOTES****************

Please check that you restore bonds, reset home near food and reprice if you had bunnies set for sale.

2.  If your update totem gets stuck on a bunny (after 5 minutes, it hasn't completed)  please TAKE THE CRATE into your inventory and delete the white bunny underneath.  Copy the crate prim description number.  File a support ticket ( ) and include that crate number for a replacement bunny.  Do not delete the crate until you receive your replacement bunny.

Once you pick up the crate and delete the white bunny, your update totem should move on to the next bunny in range.

The food does NOT get updated itself; it only communicates to you the need to update your bunnies. PLEASE NOTE!! You do NOT need to buy new food!  Once you update your bunnies, they will eat any recent version of food just fine.

1. Get the updater, available free from these locations:

2. Prepare your update area:

A.  Designate an "update area" someplace on the land you own.

B.  Rez your updater at the center of the update area.

C.  Pick up ALL third party scripted products (monitors, dispensers, servers, rings, etc.) and any other heavily scripted items in the area. These items can slow down or even prevent the update process from beginning or completing correctly. This is VERY IMPORTANT.

3. Update your bunnies:

    A.  Turn bunny movement off. Take a moment to record the bunny's ID if you do not already have it recorded.

    B.  Pick up your bunnies one at a time (do NOT pick up in a group!)

    C.  Rez up to 10 bunnies in your update area. The updater affects bunnies within a 9m radius (18 m circle with totem in center)

    D.  There will be a short delay before the updater begins; please be patient! :)

    E.  The bunnies will update one by one. A crate will appear over them and the process will be shown in hovertext above the box.

    F.  When all updates are completed, remove the updated bunnies from the update area, and put down the  next 10 un-updated bunnies.

    G.  Continue this process until your entire warren is updated.

    H.  After the update is completed,  RE-REZ ALL YOUR FOOD so it will detect that the bunnies have been updated. If you use any dispenser or server system, you need to remove the food from those systems and rerezz them.

Happy Kindling and Much <3

Ozimals Food Bonuses Explained

Hello, Ozimals friends!

We've lowered the prices of Level 2 Premium and Level 3 Archetype omni foods. You may know that these foods give bonuses to your Ozimals pets--but what does that actually MEAN? (While this post uses bunny terminology, our food also boosts the corresponding Pufflings stats: Bliss, Zip, and Charm!)

Level 2 Premium food, like Level 2 Standard, enables your pets to gain love and breed. Premium also boosts Love and Energy by 2.5%, and Happiness by 5%. What this means is that your pets will gain Love more quickly--those percentages don't sound like a lot, but they make a big difference! There is MUCH less of this:

Your pets also gain an Energy boost. They move through the sleep part of their sleep/wake cycle more quickly, regaining Energy at a faster rate than pets eating lower-level food. Overall, they gain Love faster, spend more time ready to breed once they're at 100% Love, and make me do a lot less howling in frustration.

Level 3 Archetype doubles the Love and Energy bonuses to 5%, and Happiness to 7.5%, so it's all of the above only more so!

If you keep in mind the ways to boost Happiness--nearby friends, Matriarchs or Patriarchs of Euphoria, Happy Stumps, etc--and combine them carefully with Level 3 food, your bunnies could start gaining love while their Energy is still up in the 90s, and, via the food's boost to Energy, KEEP gaining love far longer than a bunny eating Level 2 Standard.

Alice, in the image below, is gaining while at 94% energy, using only the boosts from Level 3 and Happeh, a Patriarch of Euphoria, sitting next to her. If you feed your pets Level 2 Standard and have watched them gain love, you know that eating Standard, their energy needs to be much lower, usually in the 70s, for them to be happy enough to start gaining. Alice has increased the length of her Love-gaining window by around 50%, and is gaining love much faster, which means she'll be ready to breed much sooner!

I tested a pair of bunnies while writing this, hoping to illustrate the ocean of difference between Level 2 Standard and Level 3 Archetype. Both bunnies started at 0 Love, 75 Energy, and 65 Happy. Within 90 seconds, the bunny eating Level 3 had white text and was gaining love, but it took the Level 2 bunny nearly an hour to begin gaining love. After two hours, they looked like this:

By the time they fell asleep, the Archetype bunny was 24 points ahead in Love!

Level 3 Archetype food has its own special benefits for bunnies, of course. Bunnies who eat only Archetype food their entire adult lives become, first, Sages, and then Matriarchs or Patriarchs, once their generations are exhausted. These bunnies--like Happeh up there--provide strong boosts to the bunnies around them, and these boosts do stack with boosts from food.

If you would like to breed towards natural elite bunnies, bunnies who still have their asterisk (next to the generations in hovertext; it means they have never eaten anything but Level 3) and are otherwise eligible to produce natural elite babies have their chances doubled. With all of the increases we've made in their base chance over the years, this adds up to a much larger chance at natural elites. Of course, parents don't have to be eating Level 3 to produce a natural elite, but if they ARE, and are otherwise eligible, their chances are far better!

Hopefully this has cleared up some of the mysteries around food boosts!

Update 2.8 is coming next week!

Hello, Ozimals friends!

Next Monday, March 10th, we'll have a mandatory update for the bunnies. What "mandatory" means is that your bunnies will stop eating if not updated, so you'll have 72 hours to update before they drop into hibernation.

This update brings a host of goodies--holiday elites, new natural elites, exciting news about food, new genetic traits, and more--so we wanted to give you advance warning so you and your bunnies will be ready to go when 2.8 gets here. Much more information about the specifics of the new additions will be in the release notes on Monday, so please do stay tuned!
