Ozimals presents the Puffling Present Pursuit running from Thursday, December 22 - Thursday, January 12!

According to the Royal Historian of Oz, the Pufflings were an enchanted gift from Glinda, the Good Witch, to Ozma, the Empress of Oz, on her birthday. Magically brought to life from trays and trays of cream puffs, the Pufflings are a royal favorite in the palace gardens in the Emerald City. Their countless combinations make the hatching of each new egg an exciting event that Ozma attends with glee. Happy to share the wondrous gift with all, the colonies of Pufflings now extend far beyond the garden walls of the Emerald City. In fact they extend beyond the borders of Oz itself, all the way into the Second Life grid!

Help us welcome Ozma's Pufflings to SL by participating in the Puffling Present Pursuit! The premise is a simple one: every time you purchase a product marked with the "Pufflings Present Pursuit" special logo from one of the stores participating in the hunt, along with the item you bought, you will receive a hunt card (a HUD) and instructions on how to redeem the hunt card for a present from one of the Pufflings' favorite creators!

Come celebrate the season with your favorite Ozimals! We have two holiday parties planned, so there is something for everyone. On Sunday, December 18 from 1-3pm SLT we will be enjoying the magical Winter Wonderland Ozimals Orientation has become with sledding, ice skating and of course all your favorite seasonal tunes provided by DJ Sierra Sugar! Then on Thursday, December 22 from 5-7pm SLT we invite you all to come and join us at the Ozimals Winter Ball. Dress in your best Winter Finery and you might even win the coveted title of Snow King or Queen!

    REQUIRE 22 PRIMS FREE ON LAND
    BREAK BONDS
    RESET PRICING AND
    RESET HOME POSITION!

Please check that you restore bonds, reset home near food and reprice if you had bunnies set for sale.

2. Due to a safeguard put in to make the update process smoother and faster, when your bunnies have been updated they MAY appear "chubby". Don't panic! Simply re-rez them and they will pop back to normal with no problem.

3. If your update totem gets stuck on a bunny (after 5 minutes, it hasn't completed) please TAKE THE CRATE into your inventory and delete the white bunny underneath. Copy the crate prim description number. File a support ticket and include that crate number for a replacement bunny. Do not delete the crate until you receive your replacement bunny.

Once you pick up the crate and delete the white bunny, your update totem should move on to the next bunny in range.

If you need a location to update your bunnies, Ozimals Orientation islands have a sandbox type update area where you can rez your bunnies in a quiet area and chat with other bunny peeps while you do it! (Updating bunnies only here, please don't build!) SLURLs below:

*****BUNNY FOOD, THE UPDATE, AND YOU!*****

The food does NOT get updated itself, it only communicates to you the need to update your bunnies.   PLEASE NOTE!! You do NOT need to buy new food and water! Once you update your bunnies, they will eat any version of food just fine.

FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS FOR A SMOOTH UPDATE PROCESS!

Preparing to Update:

1. Get the updater. Available on Marketplace and these locations:

2. Prepare your update area:

A. Designate an "update area" someplace on the land you own.

B. Rez your updater at the center of the update area.

C. Pick up ALL third party scripted products (monitors, dispensers, servers, rings, etc.) and any other heavily scripted items in the area. These items can slow down or even prevent the update process from beginning or completing correctly. This is VERY IMPORTANT.

3. Update your bunnies:

    A. Turn bunny movement off. Take a moment to record the bunny's ID if you do not already have it recorded.

    B. Pick up your bunnies one at a time (do NOT pick up in a group!)

    C. Rez up to 10 bunnies in your update area. The updater affects bunnies within a 9m radius (18 m circle with totem in center)

    D. There will be a 30 second delay before the updater begins, (or longer for homesteads) please be patient! :)

    E. The bunnies will update one by one. A crate will appear over them and the process will be shown in hovertext above the box.

    F. When all updates are completed, remove the updated bunnies from the update area, and put down the next 10 un-updated bunnies.

    G. Continue this process until your entire warren is updated.

    H. After the update is completed, RE-REZ ALL YOUR FOOD AND WATER so they will detect that the bunnies have been updated. If you use any dispenser or server system, you need to remove the food/water from those systems and rerezz them.

Hello Ozimals friends!

The time is finally here - the Pufflings are going out to explore the world beyond Oz and they are eager to meet you! To learn all about Pufflings, go to our NEW wiki! You can learn everything you need to know about bunnies, Pufflings, and all our other products and services.

The Puffling packs will be available beginning at 6 pm SLT today, December 12th. We will shut down the Ozimals sim at some point between 4 pm and 5 pm SLT to prepare the Pufflings main store for launch. If you need bunny items you can still visit our satellite store on Ozimals Orientation or purchase on Marketplace.

The Pufflings main store is set up with Starter Packs on the left as you enter, Accessories on the right, and Food on the back wall. If you have any problems or questions, just take a look at the tree in the center of the store for an online CSR to help you.

To help celebrate the Pufflings release, we are doing a very special event called the Pufflings Present Pursuit! Also, it is time for the Holiday Bunny update! The update will be available on December 16th and the holiday period will run from December 19th - January 2nd. You must update your bunnies in order to have a chance for the Winter Holiday Elites. More details to come in a separate notice. :)

RFL Christmas Expo!

Ozimals is excited to be participating in the 2011 Christmas Expo in support of Relay For Life of Second Life and the American Cancer Society! Available only at the Christmas Expo will be TWO new limited edition Elite bunnies, Believe and Cheer. Each Elite package will come with one random nest with unlocked ears and shades plus 10 nest dyes. Come catch some Holiday Cheer and Believe in the power of us all to win the fight against Cancer by supporting this great event!

We will also be participating in the Breedables Show and Auction at the Christmas Expo! We will post the location of our booth once we've gotten in to set up. Ozimals is donating two very special items to the Auction! First, for the bunnies we are giving a 5x pack of size 15 grow potions. This is a full 5 sizes bigger than our largest grow potion! You can have the five biggest bunnies on the grid - imagine how awesome some of the Elites would look as Mega-Bunnies! Starting November 28th, 2011, Ozimals will open the Puffling Pre-order! The pre-order will run for one week, until midnight SLT December 4th, 2011. On December 5th, those who have purchased their pre-order will visit the vendor to receive their pre-order pack, and get a one week headstart with their Pufflings.

When pre-order begins, you may visit a Puffling Pre-Order Vendor and place your order. Upon payment, the vendor will give you a certificate as your receipt. When pre-order closes on December 4, the vendors will shut down. Once they restart on December 5, only those who have previously purchased pre-orders will be able to use the vendors. Clicking them then will deliver the pre-order pack previously purchased.

General sales will begin December 12th at the Pufflings shop on Ozimals, and via the Ozimals Marketplace storefront. A price list including all of the standard items and packages will be available beforehand; the price below is ONLY for the special pre-order pack.

All About Pufflings!

As most of you know, Ozimals has been working on Pufflings. We are thrilled to be able to give you details about their upcoming release! First, let’s talk for a few minutes about the origins of the Pufflings. We want to share with you the story of Ozma’s Birthday Party and the Pufflings of Oz.

Ozma is the Empress of the Land of Oz, and every year, her birthday is celebrated throughout Oz as a holiday. She receives gifts from all over Oz, but the best one is always from Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, who creates a new fantastic enchantment each year. On Ozma's last birthday, Glinda was inspired by a visit to the royal kitchens, and used her magic to turn a huge platter of cream puffs into a flock of delightful, magical little Pufflings. They soon lived throughout the Emerald City, but Pufflings are adventurous creatures, and began to venture out into the rest of the land of Oz. Now, they are coming here, to make new friends and have adventures in the wider world.

So now that you know the story of how the Pufflings came to Oz, we’d like to share an overview of how they work.

Pufflings are different from the bunnies in that they are mainly server-side breedable pets. What does this mean to you? Fewer updates, more content, and being able to add content directly onto the server rather than having to do an update. Earth Day Pufflings, Frank Baum’s Birthday Pufflings, and International Migratory Bird Day Pufflings? All possible, and even without an update. Updates will still be needed for features and additions, but this should cut down on those as much as possible.

First, let’s talk about the physical aspects of the Pufflings. Pufflings are ten prims each. Upon release, they will have several feather colors, eye colors, different crests and tails to breed for. Each Puffling will have a shown and a hidden trait for each physical genetic.

Owners will use a dialog-based system to interact with their Pufflings, similar to the bunnies. You will have the ability to add co-owners to your Puffling. To interact with a Puffling, click on him or her, and a menu will appear. There are a myriad of options for movement, interactions, and settings within this dialog menu.

When properly cared for, your Pufflings will live forever. You have the option of either feeding your Puffling or using a Perpetuation Potion once the Puffling is eligible. Perpetuation Potion? What’s that? A Perpetuation Potion will magically allow your Puffling to live without the need for food. It will work just like a non-perpetuated Puffling only it will not breed or eat. Once a Puffling has been placed into perpetuation it will drop any remaining generations. You will still be able to use your dialog menu for settings such as naming your Puffling.

Pufflings have five stats: Bliss, Noms, Charm, Zip, and Personality.

Bliss is how happy a Puffling currently is. This stat will rise and fall depending on the other stats of the Puffling.

Noms is the percentage of food. Pufflings work on a scale from 0% not hungry to 100% hungry. Once a Puffling reaches 100% Noms, he or she will disenchant. Pufflings who are disenchanted are turned back into the cream puffs from which they were created. To re-enchant a Puffling, simply feed the Puffling or use an Enchantment Powder on it. Using an Enchantment Powder on the Puffling will immediately turn the cream puff back into a Puffling. There will be three versions of food: Pet, Standard, and Zenith. Pet food is for those of you who wish to have a pet Puffling. Standard food is needed for breeding Pufflings, and Zenith food will give bonus stats to your Puffling so that it raises stats more quickly. Once a Puffling has been fed Pet food, he or she will go into a breed cooldown of fourteen days. Simply feeding the Puffling Standard or higher food will allow your Puffling to breed once the cooldown is over.

Charm is the love meter for Pufflings. Once a Puffling meets the requirements to start growing love--75%+ Bliss and 25%+ Zip--the Charm will slowly build. Once it reaches 100%, your Puffling is ready to breed. If you prefer, you may buy Love Grubs, which will instantly boost a Puffling’s Charm by 10%.

Zip is how much energy your Puffling has. A Puffling will gain and lose Zip during the day depending on his or her activities and normal life cycle. Once a Puffling reaches 0% Zip, the Puffling will go to sleep. The Puffling will sleep for eight hours to recover all 100% Zip. Once the Puffling reaches 100% Zip, the Puffling will awaken and greet the day with a friendly chirp. You may wake up a sleeping Puffling by using the dialog menu.

Personality is a stat that shows how much time you have spent with a Puffling. To boost personality you can hold your Puffling; in the future, you will have more options, and will be able to play games with your Puffling, and give him or her special reward items. You may gain 1.0% a day while holding your Puffling--it takes two hours to build the full 1.0%. By raising your Puffling’s Personality percentage you will unlock new features and fun things for your Pufflings. This is not a required stat for your Pufflings, but you will get more out of the game if you spend the time to increase it.

Let’s talk a little about Puffling breeding.

Puffling breeding is very simple. Pufflings have ten generations. This means you can breed your Puffling ten times total. Once your Puffling is seven days or older, there are two ways for your Pufflings to breed. First, you can bond your Puffling to another one, so that they are bound and only breed with each other. Bonds must be renewed between breedings. Otherwise, you can allow the Pufflings to chose their own mates just by having them in the same vicinity of other Pufflings ready to breed.

When a Mommy Puffling and a Daddy Puffling love each other very much, the Daddy Puffling, once his stats indicate that he is ready to mate, will do a mating dance for the Mother. The parents’ stats must be 100% Charm, more than 75% Bliss and more than 25% Zip. If these conditions are met, you can click the Daddy Puffling and choose the option “Preen” under the interaction button to instantly breed the two parents, or you can let nature take its course and let them breed when ready. This option does have a time-out of five minutes, so use it wisely!

Once two parents have had a baby Puffling, an Egg will appear to the side of the Mother. The Puffling Egg will display stats of the Puffling inside. The Egg *will* show if the baby inside is a special Puffling. The Egg is a single prim with options for the owner to use by clicking and changing dialog options.

Special Pufflings are called Paragons. There are two versions of Paragons: a Holiday Paragon and a Natural Paragon. A Holiday Paragon is any Paragon that Ozimals releases for a limited time, usually for Holidays. Natural Paragons are Pufflings created via a rare chance when you breed two Pufflings on their final generations. There are no special traits to match for a Natural Paragon; it is only necessary that the parents are both on their final generation for the chance at a Natural Paragon.

Paragons have the unique ability to display any trait even if the Puffling doesn’t carry it. That means that if you get a Paragon with a Fleur crest visible, that might not be one of the traits carried by that Puffling. Clicking the Paragon once, as the owner, will display your Puffling’s traits in local chat. Non-Owners will also receive a menu where they can see the traits listed.

The Pufflings have a special method of introducing new traits into the population; this method is called Golden Egg Time. Golden Egg Time (or GET for short) is a new feature for Ozimals that we think will be well received by the community. During certain periods of time, a random percentage of all eggs created by any Pufflings are "Golden Eggs".

Golden Eggs can be produced by any breeding Puffling, regardless of age or generations remaining. The baby in the Egg will have a new shown trait or traits specific to that episode of GET. This will be the only method to get the new trait/traits. Ozimals will let the beginning of a Golden Egg Time be a surprise to the breeders, but we will announce when it ends. The length of GET will vary from period to period.

The baby's other traits will be completely random, like those of a starter egg--the parents' genetics will have no say in the rest of the traits. These eggs and babies will be noted in Ozaria as GET babies so that the genetics shift is explained.

Ozaria will offer you up-to-date stats, news and information.

You may choose to send your Puffling to live at the Royal Aviary once your Puffling is 30 days old. The Aviarius will give you tokens based on the following criteria. A Puffling can be worth 20 tokens in total. The Puffling must be older than 30 days and never disenchanted to receive your full reward. If your Puffling has ever been disenchanted, the reward is cut in half to ten tokens, with an additional one token removed per disenchantment. This means that a Puffling that has disenchanted one time would receive nine tokens in total. A Puffling that has disenchanted ten times will receive zero tokens. You may also turn in a Puffling Egg for one token via the dialog menu from the egg.

Ozimals Pumpkin Harvest Hunts!

Starting on Friday, October 28 and running through Halloween on Monday, October 31, we will be hosting four Treasure Hunts on Ozimals Orientation. You will be searching for pumpkins that are hidden around the sim. Think Easter Egg Hunt only in October with Pumpkins! For each Hunt we will hide a total of 100 Pumpkins. Some will be easy to find, some will undoubtedly leave you wanting to tear your hair out, but every single pumpkin will have a prize in it!

The process is simple.

1. Wait for a Pumpkin Hunt to be announced. We are giving you a schedule so you can plan ahead and hopefully make one or more of the Hunts. Don't worry if you can't TP onto Ozimals Orientation before the Hunt, because we will be closing the sim down an hour before the scheduled time to hide the Pumpkins.

2. The start of each Hunt will be announced in the Ozimals Orations and Updates group or just TP to Ozimals Orientation when a Hunt is scheduled.

3. Search for pumpkins. We will give you a picture when you arrive for the Hunt of what you are searching for so there is no confusion.

4. When you find a Hunt Pumpkin, buy it for 0L and PICK IT UP! We are limiting the number of pumpkins per hunt per avatar to 5 pumpkins so everyone gets a chance to find something. If you have reached your 5 pumpkins limit, please stop buying. Deep ominous voice from behind the curtain, "Remember, we are watching you!"

5. Open up your Pumpkins at the end of the Hunt and see what you have won! Make sure to follow the instructions in the Pumpkins to redeem your Prize Tickets.

Please note that you will not be able to redeem more then 5 Copper, 5 Silver, and 5 Gold Prize Tickets total for Bunnybury Coins. If you find more then five of any level Bunnybury Prize Ticket, they will not continue to add coins to your Bunnybury account after the first five have been redeemed. It is also important to remember that the Bunnybury prize tickets will expire, so be sure to redeem them before 11:59pm SLT on Wednesday, November 2.

Remember, EVERY Pumpkin has a prize. EVERY single one! It was the bunnies' idea, so be sure to thank them and give them an extra treat in their Halloween bags :)

For the second year in a row, the bunnies are getting dressed up in their favorite costumes and smiling big cheesy grins for the camera. Running from Wednesday, October 19 - Wednesday, November 2, catch those scary and not so scary moments that make this one of the bunnies' favorite holidays and post them to the Ozimals Flickr Group for your chance to win!

The Ozimals Boo-licious Flickr Contest is brought to you by Ozimals.

1. Each picture you enter in the Ozimals Boo-licious Flickr Contest must include an Ozimals bunny. Photos should not include other breedable animals. The theme is Halloween. Your picture should fit the theme. The picture can be taken anywhere as long as it is Halloween inspired.

2. You must be a member of the Ozimals Flickr Group in order to upload a photo. Please do not contact Ozimals staff to upload pictures for you. If you have trouble uploading contact Elizabeth Tinsley and she will assist you in figuring out how to join the group but you must upload the picture yourself or have a friend do it.

3. Entrants are limited to one photo per avatar.

4. Photos should be high-res and cannot be smaller than 1024x1024 pixels. Aspect ratio must be square.

5. Post-processing is allowed, but no excessive brush use or artificial borders please. This is about creatively capturing your bunnies in their natural virtual environment, not your Photoshop abilities.

6. Please no signatures on the portraits.

7. Please show general common sense and good taste. Images should be PG in nature. Explicit adult images will be disqualified.

First of all let me introduce you to one of the new Hallows' Eve Elite, "Nevermore 2011". Only available through November 2, the Nevermore Elite is exclusively available at the Ozimals shops and on the Marketplace. The bunny will have the chance of carrying a limited edition eye, available only from this pack. Also in the pack: a special limited edition Level 2 Standard food, two 3% Energy Treats, and a Hallows' Eve Happiness totem (with a 10m range, boosting bunnies' happiness through November 2, 2011).

However, The Nevermore Elite is not the only Hallows' Eve Elite available this year! Any nest created by your bunnies AND kindled between 11:59 pm SLT on Wednesday, October 19th and 11:59 pm SLT on Wednesday, November 2nd can potentially produce a Hallows' Eve Elite, regardless of breeding. The nest must be both created and kindled during that period. The Nevermore Elite is not the same as the Hallows' Eve Elites available through breeding so make sure you collect all of them today!

Also just to help celebrate Hallows Eve is special holiday inspired limited edition food! Available from the Ozimals shops and Marketplace through November 2, limited edition Hallows' Eve food packs contain special holiday versions of Level 1: Pet, Level 2: Standard, Level 2: Premium, or Level 3: Archtype foods, as well as Energy Treat candies and a Hallows' Eve Happiness totem (with a 10m range, boosting bunnies' happiness through November 2, 2011).

We've added new genetics to the Ozimals gene pool, and they are available through version 1.9 starter packs at the store (Marketplace will be up shortly). As always, new version starter bunnies have the *chance* of carrying the new genes. Please note that the lower-cost nests in the Bunnybury vendors ("Random Bunny Nest" and "Bunny Nest With Increased Chance of Recessives") will be switched to 1.9 ONE WEEK AFTER the update.

The food may be worn on any avatar attachment point. Once you are wearing it, you may click it for a menu, which allows you to set who is allowed to eat from it, whether it notifies you in chat when a bunny takes a bite, and whether or not the food displays hovertext.

Bunnies must be set to the appropriate nutrition level for the food you are wearing BEFORE you wear them--clicking a worn bunny still gives you an animation menu, like it always has, but does not allow you to set the bunny's nutrition level. Beyond ensuring that nutrition level is correct, there is no setting on the bunny that needs to be changed to enable it to switch between wearable food and regular food; simply wear the bunny and the food!

Bunnies who are being worn ignore their home and range settings, and will eat from any worn wearable food within 100 meters that gives them permission. This means that if your wearable food is set to "Anyone", any worn bunny, owned by anyone, within 100m may eat from it. Bunnies still CANNOT breed while being worn, and will still "remember" their previous range setting when you stop wearing them and re-rez them inworld.

Please remember that if you log out while holding the bunny, even if you are wearing food, the time you are offline is just like time spent in inventory for the bunny: it cannot eat. So make sure, before you log off, that your bunny is safely back inworld in his or her home, with the correct food available.

**Nostalgia Packs!
By popular demand, the 2010 Halloween elites are available for a limited time in Nostalgia Packs! **New Bunnybury reward bunny!
The previous Bunnybury Exclusive Rare Bunny Nest (Brun d'Argent / Gaia) has been removed from the Bunnybury vendors and replaced with a NEW bunny with exclusive traits! Like the previous bunny, the new Bunnybury bunny can pass these traits to its offspring, but they will not be available from any other source.

**Collection Quest rewards and vendors!
To use a vendor, click it once. Clicking a vendor once will log you in and give you a credit total.

There are two rewards available for the opening of the Collection Quest - one is a nest accelerator and the other is a skip credit for collection quests.

To use your Nest Accelerator, begin kindling the nest you would like to Accelerate. Rez the Nest Accelerator on the nest, and it will give you a menu. Click yes, and marvel as it speeds the nest's time ahead by 15 minutes (for each Accelerator used)!

For the Skip Credit, you will not receive an item in world. The purchase will show up on your SocialBun account.

Each reward costs one credit and there is no limit to how many you can buy at one time. For example, if you have 7 credits you can get 7 prizes in one vendor session. The vendors are located in the same area as the Bunnybury vendors. They look similar to the Bunnybury vendors, but say "Quest Rewards" on the top.

Please check that you restore bonds, reset home near food and reprice if you had bunnies set for sale.

2. Due to a safeguard put in to make the update process smoother and faster, when your bunnies have been updated they MAY appear "chubby". Don't panic! Simply re-rez them and they will pop back to normal with no problem.

3. If your update totem gets stuck on a bunny (after 5 minutes, it hasn't completed) please TAKE THE CRATE into your inventory and delete the white bunny underneath. Copy the crate prim description number. File a support ticket and include that crate number for a replacement bunny. Do not delete the crate until you receive your replacement bunny.

Once you pick up the crate and delete the white bunny, your update totem should move on to the next bunny in range.

The food does NOT get updated itself, it only communicates to you the need to update your bunnies.   PLEASE NOTE!! You do NOT need to buy new food and water! Once you update your bunnies, they will eat any version of food just fine.

FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS FOR A SMOOTH UPDATE PROCESS!

Preparing to Update:

1. Get the updater. Available on Marketplace (shortly) and these locations:

2. Prepare your update area:

    A. Designate an "update area" someplace on the land you own.

    B. Rez your updater at the center of the update area.

C. Pick up ALL third party scripted products (monitors, dispensers, servers, rings, etc.) and any other heavily scripted items in the area. These items can slow down or even prevent the update process from beginning or completing correctly. This is VERY IMPORTANT.

3. Update your bunnies:

    A. Turn bunny movement off. Take a moment to record the bunny's ID if you do not already have it recorded.

    B. Pick up your bunnies one at a time (do NOT pick up in a group!)

    C. Rez up to 10 bunnies in your update area. The updater affects bunnies within a 9m radius (18 m circle with totem in center)

    D. There will be a 30 second delay before the updater begins, (or longer for homesteads) please be patient! :)

    E. The bunnies will update one by one. A crate will appear over them and the process will be shown in hovertext above the box.

    F. When all updates are completed, remove the updated bunnies from the update area, and put down the next 10 un-updated bunnies.

    G. Continue this process until your entire warren is updated.

    H. After the update is completed, RE-REZ ALL YOUR FOOD AND WATER so they will detect that the bunnies have been updated. If you use any dispenser or server system, you need to remove the food/water from those systems and rerezz them.

Today marks the last day of the Ozimals Summer Carnival, but we are not going to be sad. We are going to send the Carnival off in style with all kinds of fun activities to end the festivities!

Starting at Noon SLT we have the Hoppy Summer Picnic Dance! Come join us on the seashore for our Victorian inspired summer picnic! Come decked out in your best Victorian bustle and tails to enjoy the summer breezes, drink lemonade, and listen to some of your favorite rock tunes from DJ Sierra Sugar. We will be having the last of our costume contests (creative Victorian is the costume of the day!), passing out Copper Prize Tickets just for you coming and sharing our company, and ending the party with a rousing game of Ozimals B-I-N-G-O (starting @ 2pm SLT)!

Last week our Bunny Beach Party got rainned out, forcing us to retreat to the Big Top where much frolicking and merriment ensued. Bunnybury Vendor News!

Hello!

There was a problem with the Bunnybury vendor putting users into cooldown when they redeemed their carnival tickets. This issue has been corrected: everyone is now out of cooldown and able to use the vendors. Once you do purchase an item, you will still enter a seven-day cooldown. We're sorry for any frustration this may have caused, and we hope that you're enjoying the carnival!

An extra-special limited edition Carnival item is coming to Bunnybury! It will be placed in the Bunnybury vendor closer to the end of the carnival, and will remain available for two weeks. Please watch group notices for an announcement of its debut!

While we're on the topic, all nests in the Bunnybury vendor are, as of now, 1.8a nests. This includes the random nest, the random nest with increased chance of recessives, and the Bunnybury elite nest. (The Bunnybury Elite now has 1.8a genetics, but is still the Brun d'Argent bunny, for the time being.)

Everybunny loves a Carnival! And the Ozimals bunnies are no exception. They are all atwitter with the news that the Ozimals Summer Carnival is coming to town Sunday, July 31 - Sunday, August 14. While the Summer Carnival is running, not only can you come to the Midway and ride the rides and play the games, but you can bring your bunnies too! Show us how your bunnies play at the Carnival (either by bringing them to ours or building your own!) and you could win our Ozimals Bunnies Under the Big Top Photo Contest!

Finalists will be selected by the Ozimals staff from all the eligible photos uploaded to the Ozimals Flickr Group. The Winner of the Ozimals Bunnies Under the Big Top Photo Contest will be decided by the Ozimals Community based on a vote taken on the Ozimals Forums.

The Ozimals Bunnies Under the Big Top Photo Contest is brought to you by Ozimals.

1. Each picture you enter in the Ozimals Bunnies Under the Big Top Photo Contest must include an Ozimals bunny. Photos should not include other breedable animals. The theme is Bunnies Under the Big Top. Your picture should fit the theme. The picture can be taken anywhere as long as it is Carnival or Circus inspired.

2. You must be a member of the Ozimals Flickr Group in order to upload a photo. Please do not contact Ozimals staff to upload pictures for you. If you have trouble uploading contact Elizabeth Tinsley and she will assist you in figuring out how to join the group but you must upload the picture yourself or have a friend do it.

3. Entrants are limited to one photo per avatar.

4. Photos should be high-res and cannot be smaller than 1024x1024 pixels. Aspect ratio must be square.

5. Post-processing is allowed, but no excessive brush use or artificial borders please. This is about creatively capturing your bunnies in their natural virtual environment, not your Photoshop abilities.

6. Please no signatures on the portraits.

7. Please show general common sense and good taste. Images should be PG in nature. Explicit adult images will be disqualified.

** Bunny Carnival Elites! To celebrate the Ozimals Bunny Carnival, any nest created by your bunnies AND kindled between 12:00:01 AM SLT (one second after midnight on the morning of Sunday, July 31st) and 11:59:59 PM SLT (one second before midnight on the evening of Sunday, August 14th) can potentially produce a Carnival Elite, regardless of breeding.

Don't forget! If you would like to bypass your chance at a Carnival Elite, you are given an option to choose "No Elite" in the kindling menu, and you may simply confirm that you don't want that nest to have a chance at a holiday Elite.

There will also be a Carnival Elite--different from the ones available through breeding--exclusively available at the Ozimals shops and through the SL Marketplace on Tuesday, 7/26. The bunny will have the chance of carrying a limited edition eye, available only from this bunny.

**There are TWO DIFFERENT UPDATERS in the 1.8A Update package. Please read carefully below before you begin updating, as each bunny can only be updated once--if you use the wrong updater, you will not be able to then go back and use the other.

Ozimals Euphoria Update Totem 1.8A: This special updater, when used on Elders/Sages/Matriarchs/Patriarchs of Euphoria, will "re-roll" their type. (Of course, they have a 1 in 4 chance of getting Euphoria again.) This updater is safe to use on other bunnies; it will not change non-Euphorias, and has no ill effect on bunnies with generations remaining. As usual, this updater will work on any version bunny who is not in hibernation.

Ozimals Bunny Update Totem 1.8A: This is the standard updater, and will update any not-hibernating bunny of any version to 1.8. Elder types will not change. If you have Euphorias that you would like to KEEP as Euphorias, use this updater for them.

****************IMPORTANT NOTES****************

1. THE UPDATE PROCESS WILL:
REQUIRE 22 PRIMS FREE ON LAND
BREAK BONDS
RESET PRICING AND
RESET HOME POSITION!

Please check that you restore bonds, reset home near food and reprice if you had bunnies set for sale.

2. Due to a safeguard put in to make the update process smoother and faster, when your bunnies have been updated they MAY appear "chubby". Don't panic! Simply re-rez them and they will pop back to normal with no problem.

3. If your update totem gets stuck on a bunny (after 5 minutes, it hasn't completed) please TAKE THE CRATE into your inventory and delete the white bunny underneath. Copy the crate prim description number. File a support ticket and include that crate number for a replacement bunny. Do not delete the crate until you receive your replacement bunny.

Once you pick up the crate and delete the white bunny, your update totem should move on to the next bunny in range.

If you need a location to update your bunnies, Ozimals Orientation islands have a sandbox type update area where you can rez your bunnies in a quiet area and chat with other bunny peeps while you do it! (Updating bunnies only here, please don't build!) SLURLs below:

*****BUNNY FOOD, THE UPDATE, AND YOU!*****

The food does ~not~ get updated itself, it only communicates to you the need to update your bunnies. PLEASE NOTE!! You do NOT need to buy new food and water! Once you update your bunnies, they will eat any version of food just fine.

FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS FOR A SMOOTH UPDATE PROCESS!

Preparing to Update:

1. Get the updater. Available on Marketplace and these locations:

*Magic of Oz

*Ozimals Orientation

*Ozimals Satellite Store (PG Location)

*Lawst Paradise

2. Prepare your update area:

A. Designate an "update area" someplace on the land you own.

B. Rez your updater at the center of the update area.

C. Pick up ALL third party scripted products (monitors, dispensers, servers, rings, etc.) and any other heavily scripted items in the area. These items can slow down or even prevent the update process from beginning or completing correctly. This is VERY IMPORTANT.

3. Update your bunnies:

A. Turn bunny movement off. Take a moment to record the bunny's ID if you do not already have it recorded.

B. Pick up your bunnies one at a time (do NOT pick up in a group!)

C. Rez up to 10 bunnies in your update area. The updater affects bunnies within a 9m radius (18 m circle with totem in center)

D. There will be a 30 second delay before the updater begins, (or longer for homesteads) please be patient! :)

E. The bunnies will update one by one. A crate will appear over them and the process will be shown in hovertext above the box.

F. When all updates are completed, remove the updated bunnies from the update area, and put down the next 10 un-updated bunnies.

G. Continue this process until your entire warren is updated.

H. After the update is completed, RE-REZ ALL YOUR FOOD AND WATER so they will detect that the bunnies have been updated. If you use any dispenser or server system, you need to remove the food/water from those systems and rerezz them.

Ozimals at RFL Auction and "Hope" Elite!

Ozimals is proud to be involved with the 2011 Second Life Relay for Life, benefiting the American Cancer Society. We have two important announcements about RFL; please read on!

The Relay for Life Ozimals Silent Auction begins tomorrow morning, Saturday, July 16th, and concludes on Sunday, July 17th, at 7:00 pm SLT. This silent auction includes many nests donated by the Ozimals community, and two very, very special nests from Ozimals. These two nests are Elite: [europa] Alien Bunneh nests, with Airplane ears and unlocked shades. What this means is that the bunnies from these nests will have Airplane ears--something no other Alien Bunneh has!--and can be any of the currently available shades except Vitreous, where all other Aliens were Silky. These nests will produce Alien Bunnehs unlike any seen before, and can only be won through the bid boards at the silent auction! (Like other elite bunnies, the fur and eyes visible on this bunny are not breedable and cannot be passed to their offspring.)

Also, we are overjoyed to announce a NEW elite bunny! The "Hope" elite was designed in conjunction with ~silentsparrow~, and will be available for sale at the auction location when it opens tomorrow. "Hope" is, however, available from the Ozimals stores right now! As this bunny is sold through a Relay for Life vendor, we cannot sell it on Marketplace; it can only be purchased inworld. These nests are sold in a package which includes bunny food, matching nest dye, and one random gender nest with unlocked ears and shades, meaning that the bunny can have any currently available ear or shade (except Vitreous) visible.

100% of proceeds from "Hope" and from the auction nests will go to Relay for Life. For more information about what RFL is and does, please visit the Relay for Life website.

> Collections are a new SocialBun mini-game, found on SocialBun under "My Bunnies for Sale". The bunny's Collection button is in the Interaction menu.

> A Collection Quest is a quest to find a specific bunny. Each one is randomly generated for you; everyone will have different bunnies to collect. The idea behind the quest is to find a matching bunny and collect it. The bunny will be permanently removed from your warren--please make certain before you choose to send it in for a collection! In exchange for each bunny that you help to collect you will receive a collection point which you can turn in for rewards.

> You may request a collection from the page, and if you complete it or skip it within 24 hours, you can move on to the next quest 24 hours from requesting the first.

> If you cannot complete your quest within 24 hours, you will be given a 72-hour extension. This will be displayed by a countdown clock when you go to your collections page.

> If you do not complete or skip your quest during the entire 96 hours, it will expire, and you can request a new one.

> Each user will begin with two skip credits, each of which allows that user to skip one quest.

** Co-Ownership
>Under the Interaction menu you will now see a "Co-owner" option, which allows you to assign, list, and delete two co-owners to your bunny.

>Potential Co-owners must be in range of the bunny when you are assigning them as co-owners.
PLEASE NOTE! Co-owners can do just about anything to your bunnies, including bonding, Bunnybury and sending them for Collection quests! Ozimals cannot replace bunnies or be held responsible for what your co-owners may do, so be extremely careful when using this feature!

This means that any nest created by your bunnies AND kindled between 12:00:01 AM SLT (one second after midnight on the morning of Wednesday, April 20th) and 11:59:59 PM SLT (one second before midnight on the evening of Wednesday, April 27th) can potentially produce an Easter elite, regardless of breeding.

Don't forget! If you would like to bypass your chance at an Easter elite, you are given an option to choose "No Elite" in the kindling menu, and you may simply confirm that you don't want that nest to have a chance at a holiday elite.

There will also be an Easter elite--different from the ones available through breeding--exclusively available at the Ozimals shops and through the SL Marketplace on April 19-27th. The bunny will have the chance of carrying a limited edition eye, available only from this bunny.

Additionally, there are special limited edition Easter foods available from the Ozimals shops and on Marketplace; these will become collectibles, instead of disappearing, when their servings are exhausted. The foods come with delightful extra bonuses, including a Happiness Totem, which boosts the Happiness of surrounding bunnies, and will last until the end of the elite kindling

B. Rez your updater at the center of the update area.

C. Pick up ALL third party scripted products (monitors, dispensers, servers, rings, etc.) and any other heavily scripted items in the area. These items can slow down or even prevent the update process from beginning or completing correctly. This is VERY IMPORTANT.

3. Update your bunnies:

A. Turn bunny movement off. Take a moment to record the bunny's ID if you do not already have it recorded.

B. Pick up your bunnies one at a time (do NOT pick up in a group!)

C. Rez up to 10 bunnies in your update area. The updater affects bunnies within a 9m radius (18 m circle with totem in center)

D. There will be a 30 second delay before the updater begins, (or longer for homesteads) please be patient!

E. The bunnies will update one by one. A crate will appear over them and the process will be shown in hovertext above the box.

F. When all updates are completed, remove the updated bunnies from the update area, and put down the next 10 un-updated bunnies.

G. Continue this process until your entire warren is updated.

H. After the update is completed, RE-REZ ALL YOUR FOOD AND WATER so they will detect that the bunnies have been updated. If you use any dispenser or server system, you need to remove the food/water from those systems and rerezz them.

In the wake of the triple disaster that hit Japan in March, the Second Life community has once again demonstrated the depth of its generosity by coming out in support of the numerous fundraising activities centered around sending assistance to the people of Japan. Shortly after the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan with devastating results, Ozimals announced the arrival of the Limited Edition Sakura Bunneh with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the Mercy Corps Japan Earthquake Response Fund who partners with Peace Winds, a Japanese charity.

Now Ozimals would like to announce the arrival of the Limited Edition Tancho Sanke Koi Bunneh in support of the displaced and lost animals effected by the events of the past month. In collaboration with Project Fur Japan, Ozimals will be selling the Koi Bunneh for the next few weeks to help raise funds for the Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support (JEARS) organization. 100% of the proceeds from sales will go directly to providing shelter and food for the thousands of ownerless animals in the disaster areas of Japan. The mission of JEARS is to rescue, reunite and rehome lost and abandoned animals.

Ozimals feels a close connection to the Japanese community in Second Life. It is at times like these that we truly experience the strength of these bonds, when those we know and love are in physical distress and we have the power, through our Second Life creations, to send assistance. We all are aware of the disaster affecting Japan. Malk and I have been inspired by so many Japanese residents in SL, many of whom we are lucky enough to call friends. Those we have come to know are some of the kindest and most genuine people we have met, real life or Second Life.

Ozimals has also been embraced by the Japanese community and in this time of need, we wanted to do something to help. We offer our encouragement and hope for the people affected, and to help raise money for the Japan Relief Fund, we are releasing "Sakura" - the Cherry Blossom bunny.

The Ozimals leprechauns have been dipping into the green beer a bit too much and while they were listening to the group they heard the cries for a St. Patrick's Day bunneh. So the sneaky bunch ran to the Ozimals workshop and whipped up a lovely green bunny for you!

We tried to be angry with them but the bunny is just too adorable - so Éirinn go Brách and Happy St. Patrick's Day from Ozimals :)

Lucky the Irish Bunneh comes in a St. Patrick's Day pack that includes a special LE Irish food set unique for this pack (Level 2 food - 1 bunny 30 days) and three 3% energy sweets. Lucky will be sold now through March 23rd at the mainstore, the satellite store, and on Marketplace.

Top O' The Mornin' to ye, Ozimals peeps! Welcome to the Bunnybury Rainbow Game for St. Patrick's Day. Please read the instructions below carefully so that you can get the most out of the leprechauns' pots of gold. Good Luck!

The Rainbow is available free and can be obtained from any of the locations at the bottom of this post. If the vendor is red, it is in use; please wait until the vendor is not being used by another avatar, and click it one time only to receive your Rainbow. This vendor gives one item per avatar, and will not give items to any avatar under 30 days old. Please ensure that you are not set to Busy or Away; you will not receive your Rainbow.

The vendor will give you a folder called "*Oz* St. Patrick's Day 2011: Rainbow". Do not unpack or open the object inside called "*Oz* St. Patrick's Day 2011: Rainbow"; this will break it. Simply rez it where you want it; the first time you rez it, it will auto-magically jump to the correct height.

Randomly, every few hours, a pot of gold will rez underneath the rainbow. Each time it rezzes, it will remain visible for 30 minutes, or until clicked. If you are lucky enough to see the pot of gold appear, click it, and it will award you free Bunnybury coins (a random number of them, between 50 and 100):

Greetings Ozimals peeps! It's time to give the luck of the Irish to all your favorite buns with our Limited Edition St. Patrick's Day foods - choose regular or epic packs - each has its own unique look so all your bunnies can get a special treat for the 17th.

Also included in the packs is a happiness totem (that lasts through March 20th) and an added bonus for the level 2 and level 3 food packs - special Irish-themed nest dyes for your St. Pat's nests! All the special holiday packs are available at the mainstore and the NEW satellite store on Ozimals Orientation now, and on Marketplace Sunday afternoon.

After a lot of blood, sweat, tears and copious amounts of grinding teeth, as well as the hard work and dedication of our staff and closed beta testers, we're ready for final testing for Social Bun! ANYONE who owns bunnies can help us test, and we need you!

We need your help to find any remaining bugs or problems with the site before launch. Read the FAQ to get instructions on how to sign up for Social Bun. If you have a forum account, you are over halfway there already! Once you are properly signed up, it is time to start poking around all the areas of the site to make sure they work properly. To learn how to use Social Bun read the information we have at the support portal.

Click all links, try all the different functions - really explore the site and help us root out any problems. We'd also like to know about any typos, misspellings, or grammatical issues you find as well as any section that is hard to navigate or that doesn't make sense to you.

Please report all bugs, fixes, suggestions and concerns in the Beta forum.

If you discuss bugs or suggestions only in the group chats, we will most likely miss them. Discussion in group is ok, as this is open beta but please be sure to make forum posts as well so that we will be certain to see them.

OzU is Open for Classes!

Opening this week, OzU had its first classes on Wednesday, February 16. Covering both basic and more advanced Ozimals care skills, the classes are designed to help you get the most out of your Ozimals bunnies and enrich your experience both with your bunnies and the Ozimals community in general. The classes will be taught by a rotating group of volunteer teachers who come from the Ozimals community. According to Nessarose Stormcrow, the coordinator for OzU, the school's motto is, "Learn it. Do it. Teach it!"

OzU classes will be held Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12pm SLT and 6pm SLT on weeks opposite the community meetings. This will allow the Ozimals Team to be available for questions and discussion each week in a group setting.

Special Limited Edition Collectible Holiday Combo Food - All levels including Aphrodisiac (which seems very apropos for the Holiday of Love!) The LE Collectible foods are available in all food levels and in the normal and epic sizes.

PLEASE NOTE: These are special editions of food and will have more prims than the regular foods. Check the vendor textures for prim counts on the different foods before you make your purchases.

Archetype Food and the Love Totem are boxes of chocolates with three special options - "Open Lid", "Close Lid", and"Nom!" Try them out! These will be valid Love Totems until Feb. 18th at midnight SLT.

All the food packages include three Energy Valentine Sweets with various percentages depending on food type, one Ozimals Chocolate Box Love Totem, and one Special Edition Tinman Bunny Nest Dye (10 charges) When your bunnies have finished the Valentine's Day Holiday Food, you can keep the item as a collectible! Once the food has been consumed, the hovertext will disappear and the item will be renamed with a "Collectible" Tag. The energy Valentine Sweets will disappear after use and the Tinman Bunny nest dye will disappear after the 10 charges are used.

By popular request, we have also made a pack of non-scripted versions of some of the custom made items for those who would like to use them as decorations or give them as special Valentine gifts! These are for decoration only and will *not* feed or give stat boosts to your bunnies.

Greetings and Welcome to Bunnybury! For those who might be wondering... "What is Bunnybury?" The *name* for Bunnybury comes from the Land of Oz, of course. There, Bunnybury is a town (mentioned in the book The Emerald City of Oz) where bunnies are the only residents. There are marble houses and tidy lawns of green clover and the bunnies dress in lovely outfits and live quite happily.

For Ozimals, Bunnybury is an optional reward program for our loyal customers where we offer coins for bunnies and nests that you choose to send to the Mayor of Bunnybury. This program allows you to accrue coins for exclusive thank you gifts from Ozimals, similar to programs you may participate in with RL companies. We plan to continuously add new items to choose from to the program and we welcome your suggestions and feedback--tell us what you would like to see!

To turn in your bunnies and nests to Bunnybury, simply choose the menu option "Bunnybury" (under "Interaction" in the bunny menu and on the main menu of the nests) and confirm that you would like to send the bunny or nest to Bunnybury and after a few moments you will receive a message in local chat letting you know the transfer was successful and how many coins you added to your account.

You redeem your coins using Bunnybury vendors located in several locations around the grid. All you need to do is go to one of the locations listed below and touch the vendor to log in and begin the process. Complete instructions are in their own notecard below and also available at the vendor locations.

Coins are currently calculated in the following manner: Nests are always worth 1 coin each. Bunnies are worth one coin for every week of age. M/P bunnies are worth 2 coins for every week of age. Any M/P-eligible bunny that has hibernated is no longer eligible for the double Bunnybury coin bonus, and will earn one coin for each week of age, just like any other bunny.

There is a one purchase per week restriction on Bunnybury. You may access the vendor as often as you like but after a purchase you are logged out of the vendor and begin a one week cooldown.

The updater includes a "Sim Grade" that checks several factors on your sim to determine if you can easily and successfully update bunnies in the location where the updater is rezzed.

If your sim qualifies, the updater will simply begin to update your bunnies. If the score is too low (the minimum is 0.35) then the updater will show a hovertext number of your sim's present level in real time so you can make adjustments to get your sim to the minimum score.

The simplest method is to pick up scripted objects that are not bunnies in the area. If that is not sufficient, begin picking up bunnies until the sim grade number is above 0.40.

If you cannot raise your sim numbers high enough using these methods, you can also take bunnies to a sandbox to update them. ***MOST PEOPLE WILL NOT NEED TO DO THIS***

The Year of the Bunny Comes to Ozimals!

Fun things are being planned by the bunnies to celebrate the Chinese New Year and the beginning of the Year of the Rabbit! The celebrations start Saturday, January 29 with the opening of the Year of the Bunny Hunt. Featuring gifts from some of your favorite Magic of Oz and Ozimals creators, you will definitely want to plan to be a part of this first MoO Hunt of 2011!

The festivities will swing into high gear on Thursday, February 3 when DJ Sierra Sugar joins the bunnies in welcoming the Year of the Rabbit with a collection of your favorite rock tunes. The bunnies can't think of a better way to kick off the New Year then with a dance party packed full of all their best friends from around the world! Mark your calendars because this will be a party to remember!

New Combo Food Released!

The new combo foods are released! Huzzah! The Ozimals Combo Food will rez as a linked set of food and water. The Combo Food displays servings instead of percentages but lasts exactly as long as the previous food/water did. We have three options now for purchasing food: Single, Breeder, or Epic. Single and Breeder have the same number of foods and are the same price as the original food.

The new type of food was added by popular request - the "Epic Breeder Food." This food is the equivalent of the 10 singles breeder pack (300 days/1 bunny) contained in one food/water set. This food is priced the same as the discounted breeder packs and has a slightly different appearance (generally larger piles of the food) so you can distinguish it from the single foods.

The combo foods have new sculpts and so to help you with the transition here is a list of the food types, their new appearance and their old appearance.

Sugar Snap Peas and Water (Old version - pellets and water)

Level 2 Standard
Blueberries and Water (Old version - hay cubes and water)

Level 2 Premium
Pears/Cherries and Water (old version - carrots and water)

We've taken this opportunity to rearrange the store a bit to make it easier for everyone to quickly find the items they are looking for. The foods are now located along the walls of the store and are labeled with large numbers corresponding to their Food Level - Level 1 and standard Level 2 on the left as you enter the building, and Level 2 Premium and Level 3 on the right.

The tops of the food boxes on each display are colored to indicate the type of product pack you are purchasing - Red for Single pack, Green for Breeder pack, and Blue for Epic Breeder pack. The stat boosters and starter kits are located on displays in the center of the store.

Ozimals Extend a Helping Hand Auction

Shamrock Stables is teaming up with Ozimals to present a bunny auction, with all proceeds collected going towards the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal. There will be an excellent range of fantastic bunnies up for auction, all donated by some incredibly generous bunny breeders. If you want a bunny that’s just a little bit (or a lot!) special, this auction is for you.

A raffle-board will also be set up during the auction, with some great prizes available, ranging from combo-food to Naughty and Nice packs no longer sold at Ozimals, Elite sets and more.

Make sure to stop by – this will be a bunny auction to remember! It starts promptly at 6pm SLT on Friday, January 14, so head over now!

Announcing the Ozimals Snow Bunnies Contest Winners!

We want to thank all the people who entered a photo in the Ozimals Snow Bunnies Contest. The entries were great and the Ozimals team had so much fun looking through them and seeing all your creativity at work. It was difficult to pick just three winners, but this is what we came up with.

Also we have a new Flickr contest running. Starting in January 2011, Ozimals is hosting a monthly contest to find the cutest bunny picture uploaded to the Ozimals Flickr Group!
Each month the winner will receive a free month's supply of food for one bunny and be entered into a chance to win Bunny of the Year, which will be decided in January of 2012.

Also the winner of each month will be the official representative for that month in the 2012 Ozimals Calendar: A Bunny for All Seasons.

All photos posted to the Ozimals Flickr Group between the first and last day of the contest month will be eligible as long as they meet the following guidelines:

1. Pictures must be high resolution, a minimum of 1024 x 1024 and square in aspect
2. Pictures include Ozimal bunnies and not other breedable pets

3. If your update totem gets stuck on a bunny (after 5 minutes, it hasn't completed) please TAKE THE CRATE into your inventory and delete the white bunny underneath. Copy the crate prim description number. File a support ticket and include that crate number for a replacement bunny. Do not delete the crate until you receive your replacement bunny.

Once you pick up the crate and delete the white bunny, your update totem should move on to the next bunny in range.

If you need a location to update your bunnies, Ozimals Orientation islands have a sandbox type update area where you can rez your bunnies in a quiet area and chat with other bunny peeps while you do it! (Updating bunnies only here, please don't build!) SLURLs below:

The food does ~not~ get updated itself, it only communicates to you the need to update your bunnies. PLEASE NOTE!! You do NOT need to buy new food and water! Once you update your bunnies, they will eat any version of food just fine.

FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS FOR A SMOOTH UPDATE PROCESS!

Preparing to Update:

1. Get the updater. Available on Marketplace and these locations:

2. Prepare your update area:

A. Designate an "update area" someplace on the land you own.

B. Rez your updater at the center of the update area.

C. Pick up ALL third party scripted products (monitors, dispensers, servers, rings, etc.) and any other heavily scripted items in the area. These items can slow down or even prevent the update process from beginning or completing correctly. This is VERY IMPORTANT.

***Does your Updater say "Poor sim performance, aborting update. Please try on a different sim." ?

The updater includes a "Sim Grade" that checks several factors on your sim to determine if you can easily and successfully update bunnies in the location where the updater is rezzed.

If your sim qualifies, the updater will simply begin to update your bunnies. If the score is too low (the minimum is 0.35) then the updater will show a hovertext number of your sim's present level in real time so you can make adjustments to get your sim to the minimum score.

The simplest method is to pick up scripted objects that are not bunnies in the area. If that is not sufficient, begin picking up bunnies until the sim grade number is above 0.40.

If you cannot raise your sim numbers high enough using these methods, you can also take bunnies to a sandbox to update them. ***MOST PEOPLE WILL NOT NEED TO DO THIS***

3. Update your bunnies:

A. Turn bunny movement off. Take a moment to record the bunny's ID if you do not already have it recorded.

B. Pick up your bunnies one at a time (do NOT pick up in a group!)

C. Rez up to 10 bunnies in your update area. The updater affects bunnies within a 9m radius (18 m circle with totem in center)

D. There will be a 30 second delay before the updater begins, (or longer for homesteads) please be patient! :)

E. The bunnies will update one by one. A crate will appear over them and the process will be shown in hovertext above the box.

F. When all updates are completed, remove the updated bunnies from the update area, and put down the next 10 un-updated bunnies.

G. Continue this process until your entire warren is updated.

H. After the update is completed, RE-REZ ALL YOUR FOOD AND WATER so they will detect that the bunnies have been updated. If you use any dispenser or server system, you need to remove the food/water from those systems and rerezz them.

The hills of Ozimals are blanketed in snow and the bunnies are all atwitter anxiously awaiting Santa's midnight ride. The Trees are being decorated and stockings hung. Fires are popping and the smells of tasty treats are wafting through the air making mouths water. It is the Holiday season and the bunnies are excited to share it with all of you!

We all know how the bunnies love to get their pictures taken so Candy and Malk decided it was a must to have a winter photo contest! The Ozimals Snow Bunnies Photo Contest starts Monday, December 20, 2010 and will run through Sunday, January 2, 2011, and the bunnies are hopping with glee over all wonderful photo opportunities that are scattered over Ozimals and Magic of Oz. Whether you want to take a picture of a bunny in the snow or be the snow bunny yourself as you sled down the hills of Ozimals, we can't wait to see your wonderful winter pictures!

Now let's talk about prizes! Candy and Malk have come up with a collection of wonderful prizes for the winners of the Ozimals Snow Bunnies Photo Contest. The 1st Place winner will receive the complete collection of all the Ozimals Limited Edition Winter 2010 Elite Bunnies! I don’t know exactly how many bunnies this will amount to or what they will look like as this is all top secret but I *do* know we are talking about bunnies in the plural, as in more than ONE!

Second and Third place winners will receive Naughty and Nice Packages full of tasty treats and gifts for you and your bunnies!

The theme of the Ozimals Snow Bunnies Photo Contest is Winter Wonderland, therefore the picture you enter in the Ozimals Snow Bunnies Photo Contest must either be taken at the Magic of Oz or Ozimals sims as they appear now all done over in snow or include an Ozimals bunny in a Winter scene. Photos should not include other breedable animals. Photos taken at Magic of Oz or Ozimals can, but are NOT required to, include Ozimals bunnies.

2. You must be a member of the Ozimals Flickr Group in order to upload a photo. Please do not contact Ozimal staff to upload pictures for you. If you have trouble uploading contact Elizabeth Tinsley and she will assist you in figuring out how to join the group but you must upload the picture yourself or have a friend do it.

3. Entrants are limited to one photo per avatar.

4. Photos should be high-res and cannot be smaller than 1024x1024 pixels. Aspect ratio must be square.

5. Post-processing is allowed, but no excessive brush use or artificial borders please. This is about creatively capturing your bunnies in their natural virtual environment, not your Photoshop abilities.

6. Please no signatures on the portraits.

7. Please show general common sense and good taste. Images should be PG in nature. Explicit adult images will be disqualified. Pictures deemed offensive will be removed from the Ozimals Flickr Group and disqualified from the contest.

A Very Happy Holidays at Oz

The Magic of Oz and Ozimals invite everyone to come celebrate this holiday season with a week-long Winter Festival. Both the Magic of Oz and Ozimals sims are decked out in festive winter cheer with lots of hidden and interactive treats for all.

Wander around the snowy hills to find some beautiful photo opportunities complete with poses and holiday card scenery. Go sledding down the hill in front of Ozimals or take a horse-drawn sleigh ride with that special someone around the enchanted Magic of Oz. Play among the snowmen, take a ride on the Snowflake Merry-go-Round, or capture the flag in a full-on snowball war with friends. You can even flop down and make whimsical snow angels in the powdery snow.

We have trees set up all over Ozimals and need your help decorating them! On each of the Holiday Trees there are picture frames that you can drag your favorite holiday and/or bunny pictures from the past year on to. Please remember this is a PG sim and we are family friendly when selecting your photos to share. And to give you even more inspiration for picture memories, starting Monday, December 20, the Ozimals Snow Bunnies Photo Contest will be open and looking for your best winter themed bunny images. More information will be announced on this fun winter contest but the prizes are fabulous and the theme is winter so definitely starting planning your shots as you wander around the snow cloaked hills of the Oz sims!

There are also Holiday Movie Screenings in the Witch's Castle on Magic of Oz with hot chocolate and assorted holiday treats! Regarding the Lawsuit Against Ozimals by Amaretto

We've been asked about the injunction and lawsuit filed in California against Ozimals Inc. by Amaretto Ranch Breedables LLC. To clarify the most basic misconception about this issue in our first paragraph – we are *not* claiming and have never claimed to own the idea of a breedable virtual animal. That is not the issue at hand despite the response from Amaretto’s attorney. Ideas are not protected by copyright, but the particular expression of an idea most definitely is.

The Ozimals team would like to take a moment to address your questions and explain the reasons behind the steps we have taken. In order to do this it is necessary to go back several months, to June of this year. At the beginning of June, one of the owners of Ozimals was approached by a key member of the Amaretto Horses development team inquiring about our copyrights and asking that we take a look at their product before it was released into beta. The entire conversation is posted here: http://www.ozimals.com/Amaretto_Dev_Team_Member_060910.txt We are attempting to get clarification on if we can post the name of the avatar that initiated the conversation with us. If we can do so, we will.

They presented the notecard that was intended for the beta testers that described the Amaretto product and asked the Ozimals owner to review it. Upon reading the notecard, which only covered very basic information, it was immediately obvious that the current state of the Amaretto horse product was a near complete clone of the Ozimals concept of a breedable. Since the Ozimals works are protected by copyright, the Ozimals owner notified the Amaretto development team member that the product in its current state was nearly identical to the Ozimals work and would be infringing on the copyrights that Ozimals held if Amaretto released it. It was a very civil conversation and it lead Ozimals to believe that Amaretto would respect the copyright protections that we had notified them of and develop their own concept for release.

Needless to say, Ozimals was both shocked and disappointed when Amaretto released a product in September that was even more similar than what had been presented to the owner of Ozimals. We communicated our concerns and rights in June and attempted to very politely inform Amaretto that they must develop their own concept so that any problems could be avoided. We were deeply saddened that they chose to ignore the notice we gave and release a product that infringed on the intellectual property of Ozimals.

Once we were made aware of the released product, we contacted our intellectual property attorney who began an investigation, gathering information on the scope of the infringement. Normally in a situation of copyright infringement in Second Life, the copyright holder files a DMCA against the infringing material which would have it completely removed from the grid.

However, Ozimals did not want the unlawful decisions made by Amaretto to affect the breedable community in such a negative way. After much research and discussion, we decided to send an initial letter to Amaretto outlining the infringement and the rights that Ozimals has in an attempt to come up with a solution that ends the infringement with the least impact on the community possible. We are deeply disappointed in the response we have received from Amaretto including this latest lawsuit and injunction attempt under the radar while we were in good faith negotiations with their attorney to settle this without the DMCA. It was our greatest hope to resolve this in an amicable and civilized fashion. We will continue to attempt every method to lessen the impact this may have on our breedable community, and will keep you updated as much as possible via the blog.

Since Ozimals began development, there have been many other breedable pets introduced. Ozimals welcomes fair competition, because it helps to improve products for everyone and inspires us to continually come up with new innovations to take the breedable animal to new levels in Second Life. However, what Amaretto did is not fair competition and if Ozimals did not stand up for copyright protections, we would be doing a disservice not just to our company but every company in Second Life that develops a unique concept and brings it into our virtual world.

Any resident who has been part of Second Life for a period of time has likely come into contact with a copyright infringement situation in-world. Unfortunately, it happens with too much regularity and often to creators who don't always have the means to protect what is rightfully theirs. As you know, we have entered the holiday season, and Ozimals wants to give you a heads-up for our schedule changes and limited support days between now and the New Year.

**Community Meetings Go to Bi-Weekly for the Holiday Season**

So that we can continue our strong focus on wrapping up open projects and making progress on our new projects despite the normal holiday rush and off days, we are taking the Community Meetings to biweekly beginning this week and continuing through the New Year. We will of course, have additional meetings if needed and supplement with Bunny Bytes newsletters to keep you updated. The schedule for Community Meetings between now and the beginning of January will be as follows:

Dec. 13th
Dec. 27th
Jan. 10th

That means that there will not be a Community meeting tomorrow, November 21st. After the Jan 10th meeting, we will evaluate to see if we need to go back to a weekly schedule or if biweekly is preferred by the community. Let us know your thoughts in January :)

**Holiday Limited Support Days**

Everyone wants to spend time with their loved ones during the holidays, and our hard working and dedicated Ozimals staff definitely deserves to do that! On the days listed below we will have limited support online and in our ticket system.

It's Oziversary Time at Magic of Oz!

The seasons are changing once again on Oz as we welcome Autumn to our Emerald lands, and with the arrival of the falling leaves we also have exciting news. Magic of Oz is two years old! Starting Friday, November 12 and running through Sunday, November 21, we will be enjoying over a week of festive activities including the Over the Rainbow Hunt, the 2nd Oziversary: Oz Revisited Photo Contest and a Fancy Dress Gala Ball so big it will spill over two magical days!

The Over the Rainbow Hunt starts at 1pm SLT on Friday, November 12. There is nothing else in Second Life that can quite compare to the flair and excitement that is encapsulated in a Magic of Oz hunt. With prizes from 19 merchants across two sims, this hunt promises to be a must do event! For the Over the Rainbow Hunt you will be collecting Magic Pearls as they rez across the Magic of Oz and Ozimals sims in order to procure Bluebirds that will allow you to gain gifts from the Rainbows located in each participating store.

Once you have finished the Over the Rainbow Hunt and thoroughly explored both sims in search of hidden Magic Pearls you will be in the perfect frame of mind to enter the 2nd Oziversary: Oz Revisited Photo Contest where you have the chance to show us Oz through your eyes. What favorite memories do you have of Oz during the past two years? Take a picture and share your stories with us. Both the Over the Rainbow Hunt and the 2nd Oziversary: Oz Revisited Photo Contest will run from November 12 - November 21.

1. Due to a safeguard put in to make the update process smoother and faster, when your bunnies have been updated they MAY appear "chubby". Don't panic! Simply re-rez them and they will pop back to normal with no problem.

2. PLEASE NOTE!!!!!!! THE UPDATE PROCESS WILL BREAK BONDS, RESET PRICING AND RESET HOME POSITION! Please check that you restore bonds, set home position next to food and reprice if you had bunnies set for sale.

3. If your update totem gets stuck on a bunny (after 5 minutes, it hasn't completed) please TAKE THE CRATE into your inventory and delete the white bunny underneath. Copy the crate prim description number. File a support ticket and include that crate number for a replacement bunny. Do not delete the crate until you receive your replacement bunny.

Once you pick up the crate and delete the white bunny, your update totem should move on to the next bunny in range.

*****BUNNY FOOD, THE UPDATE, AND YOU!*****

The food does ~not~ get updated itself, it only communicates to you the need to update your bunnies. PLEASE NOTE!! You do NOT need to buy new food and water! Once you update your bunnies, they will eat any version of food just fine.

FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS FOR A SMOOTH UPDATE PROCESS!

Preparing to Update:

1. Get the updater. Available on the Marketplace and these locations:

2. Prepare your update area:

A. Designate an "update area" someplace on the land you own.

B. Rez your updater at the center of the update area.

C. Pick up ALL third party scripted products (monitors, dispensers, servers, rings, etc.) and any other heavily scripted items in the area. These items can slow down or even prevent the update process from beginning or completing correctly. This is VERY IMPORTANT.

***IMPORTANT NOTE***
The updater includes a "Sim Grade" that checks several factors on your sim to determine if you can easily and successfully update bunnies in the location where the updater is rezzed. If your sim qualifies, the updater will simply begin to update your bunnies. If the score is too low (the minimum is 0.35) then the updater will show a hovertext number of your sim's present level in real time so you can make adjustments to get your sim to the minimum score. The simplest method is to pick up scripted objects that are not bunnies in the area. If that is not sufficient, begin picking up bunnies until the sim grade number is above 0.40. If you cannot raise your sim numbers high enough using these methods, you can also take bunnies to a sandbox to update them. ***MOST PEOPLE WILL NOT NEED TO DO THIS***

3. Update your bunnies:

A. Turn bunny movement off. Take a moment to record the bunny's ID if you do not already have it recorded.

B. Pick up your bunnies one at a time (do NOT pick up in a group!)

C. Rez up to 10 bunnies in your update area. The updater affects bunnies within a 9m radius (18 m circle with totem in center)

D. There will be a 30 second delay before the updater begins, (or longer for homesteads) please be patient! :)

E. The bunnies will update one by one. A crate will appear over them and the process will be shown in hovertext above the box.

F. When all updates are completed, remove the updated bunnies from the update area, and put down the next 10 un-updated bunnies.

G. Continue this process until your entire warren is updated.

H. After the update is completed, RE-REZ ALL YOUR FOOD AND WATER so they will detect that the bunnies have been updated. If you use any dispenser or server system, you need to remove the food/water from those systems and rerezz them.

PLEASE NOTE: There will *not* be a Community Meeting this week because of update and Halloween preparations. We will resume the meetings on Monday November 1st at the normal times.

The bunnies have heard a rumor. There are ghosts and goblins running about in Second Life, the Witching Hour is fast approaching and people are carving faces into pumpkins! Oh! Its true you say? Halloween is coming! How exciting! The bunnies love being scared almost as much as they love being scary, so we have decided to host a Halloween Scarefest Photo Contest just to see what devilish delights all you bunny lovers can devise to send shivers running down our spines!

Now let's talk about prizes! Candy and Malk have come up with a stellar prize for the winner of the Ozimals Halloween Scarefest 2010 Photo Contest. The winner gets the complete collection of all the Ozimals Limited Edition Halloween 2010 Elite Bunnies! I don’t know exactly how many bunnies this will amount to or what they will look like as this is all top secret but I *do* know we are talking about bunnies in the plural, as in more than ONE!

Now the other exciting detail is the final voting is going to be DONE BY YOU! Candy and Malk have decided that the winner of the Ozimals Halloween Scarefest 2010 Photo Contest is going to be chosen by the Ozimals community! So once the submissions close at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, we will select the top three photos and place them up for a popular vote! The where and when of this will be announced as we get closer to October 28th, but you can get a look at all the bunny horrors as they happen by keeping an eye on the Ozimals Flickr Group.

Ozimals is delighted to announce a special collaboration with Linden Lab! We've worked together to produce a promotional email that will be sent out to all Second Life Premium Members with an offer for an exclusive Ozimals Bunny "Luv Pack" as an introduction to the Wonderful World of Ozimals!

This pack will be available through the new Second Life Marketplace for only 14 days. This alert describes a situation that happens occasionally on Second Life, and is the result of a known bug in the Second Life simulator. Linden Lab is working on a fix, and has announced in office hours that they are working on a fix, but it has not been released yet.

Below are three short sections, What to Watch For, What is this About? and What Should I Do?

What To Watch For
THE TRIGGER: You rez or kindle a bunny or rez some other scripted item - this does not only affect bunnies - and you see a long error message that looks like this (long error message that says "System.Runtime.Serialization" in it):

System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException: serializationStream supports seeking, but its length is 0
at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters. ... (usually much longer than this with many more mentions of serialization or deserialization errors

What Is This About?
This error indicates an internal programming error in the Second Life scripting engine. This error is known to be "in the wild" and Linden Lab is working to get a fix confirmed and rolled out, but it is not yet ready to roll out. (This problem, and the status of their fix, was discussed at Oskar Linden's office hours today on the beta grid.)

What Should I Do?
BEFORE doing anything else, and certainly before restarting your region (which likely won't fix this problem anyway), please send the following information to Aeron Constantine:
* Date and time that the problem occurred
* Name of your region (or a SLURL)
* What you did just before the error occurred (rezzed bunny, picked up bunny, kindled nest etc.)

Hi Bunnyfolk,

I am writing to let you know we have identified a rare issue that may result in some bunnies not eating, and have tested two solutions. We wanted to get this information out to you as soon as we had identified the issue and solutions.

Does This Apply To Me?
This message does NOT apply to you if you have updated all of your bunnies to v1.3F.9 (this week's optional update) or if you are using only v1.3 food and water (purchased in the last three months). Re-rez problems are due to Second Life grid problems, and are not part of the issue described below.

This issue ONLY applies to you if BOTH of the following are true:
1) You are still using Ozimals bunny food and water v1.2.
*If you are not sure which version you have, check the name of your food and water objects in inventory or in world to see if they have "1.2" in their names. (NOTE that this food and water were replaced by v1.3 over three months ago. If you are using v1.3 food and water this issue does NOT apply to you.)

2) You did NOT update all of your bunnies to this week's 1.3F.9 version
In some, but not all, of these cases, you may find that bunnies will not eat or drink.

Two Solutions
If you are affected by this issue, you have two ways to keep your bunnies happy and healthy until the Halloween update:

* OPTION 1) You could update your bunnies to the new v1.3F.9 version.

* OPTION 2) You could purchase some v1.3 food and water - just enough to get you through to our Halloween release, at which point after updating your bunnies your 1.2 food will work. This will not cost any extra, as your 1.2 food and water will be usable - just not between now and the Halloween update.

Technical Background (aka How did this happen?)
We discovered that the scripts in the v1.2 food and water, while mostly functional, do not behave in a way that matches their programming code. We rebuilt a new food and water from component parts, without making ANY change to the programming, and it worked fine with both old and new bunnies, yet the existing food and water do not match this behavior. This can happen in a system like Second Life, where scripts are interpreted. Unfortunately we have no way to fix food and water that is in your inventory, so we had to find another solution.

What made this issue visible? A change was done on the server to accommodate the new v1.3F.9 bunnies, and that change was supposed to be transparent to both older bunnies and older food. In fact, it would have been, had the old food and water behaved according to its programming.

How could we have prevented this issue? If this update were mandatory, the symptom would not have shown up. If we had realized a) that there was any v1.2 food and water were still in use (we didn't) and b) that there might be a potential interaction, we could have tested this scenario.

Current v1.3 food, and newer consumables when they are released, allow for feeding multiple versions of bunnies, whereas the older food did not.

In the future, we will run a deeper test matrix any time we do a non-mandatory update, and assume that there is some amount of older food and water "floating around" that might still be in use.

New Ozimals Update! Open up the Possibilities!

Update 1.3F.9 !

This update adds the ability for current bunnies to bond/breed/interact with bunnies that contain new traits (new traits refers to new furs, new eyes, new shades etc that are introduced by Ozimals). The bunnies containing the chance for new traits can be purchased in any Ozimals store and in the Marketplace, as always.

We are implementing a new process to monitor and control the release of new traits through the Ozimals store by periodically cycling in new traits based on real time population of the last traits released. This will help ensure a better control on the numbers produced in the population.

IMPORTANT NOTES

1. Due to a safeguard put in to make the update process smoother and faster, when your bunnies have been updated they MAY appear "chubby". Don't panic! Simply re-rez them and they will pop back to normal with no problem.

2. PLEASE NOTE!!!!!!! THE UPDATE PROCESS WILL BREAK BONDS, RESET PRICING AND RESET HOME POSITION! Please check that you restore bonds, set home position next to food and reprice if you had bunnies set for sale.

3. If your update totem gets stuck on a bunny (after 5 minutes, it hasn't completed) please TAKE THE CRATE into your inventory and delete the white bunny underneath. Copy the crate prim description number. File a support ticket and include that crate number for a replacement bunny. Do not delete the crate until you receive your replacement bunny.

Once you pick up the crate and delete the white bunny, your update totem should move on to the next bunny in range.

BUNNY FOOD, THE UPDATE, AND YOU!

The food does ~not~ get updated itself, it only communicates to you the need to update your bunnies. 1.2 food behaves differently than 1.3 food. (The version number can be seen in the name of the food) PLEASE NOTE!! You do NOT need to buy new food and water! Once you update your bunnies, they will eat any version of food just fine.

FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS COMPLETELY FOR A SMOOTH UPDATE PROCESS!

Preparing to Update:

1. Get the updater. Available on Xstreet and these locations:

2. Prepare your update area:

A. Designate an "update area" someplace on the land you own.

B. Rez your updater at the center of the update area.

C. Pick up ALL third party scripted products (monitors, dispensers, servers, rings, etc.) and any other heavily scripted items in the area. These items can slow down or even prevent the update process from beginning or completing correctly.

***IMPORTANT NOTE*** - The updater includes a "Sim Grade" that checks several factors on your sim to determine if you can easily and successfully update bunnies in the location where the updater is rezzed. If your sim qualifies, the updater will simply begin to update your bunnies. If the score is too low (the minimum is 0.35) then the updater will show a hovertext number of your sim's present level in real time so you can make adjustments to get your sim to the minimum score. The simplest method is to pick up scripted objects that are not bunnies in the area. If that is not sufficient, begin picking up bunnies until the sim grade number is above 0.35. If you cannot raise your sim numbers high enough using these methods, you can also take bunnies to a sandbox to update them. ***MOST PEOPLE WILL NOT NEED TO DO THIS***

3. Update your bunnies:

A. Turn bunny movement off. Take a moment to record the bunny's ID if you do not already have it recorded.

B. Pick up your bunnies one at a time (do NOT pick up in a group!)

C. Rez up to 10 bunnies in your update area. The updater affects bunnies within a 9m radius (18 m circle with totem in center)

D. There will be a 30 second delay before the updater begins, (or longer for homesteads) please be patient! Smile

E. The bunnies will update one by one. A crate will appear over them and the process will be shown in hovertext above the box.

F. When all updates are completed, remove the updated bunnies from the update area, and put down the next 10 un-updated bunnies.

G. Continue this process until your entire warren is updated.

H. After the update is completed, RE-REZ ALL YOUR FOOD AND WATER so they will detect that the bunnies have been updated. If you use any dispenser or server system, you need to remove the food/water from those systems and rerezz them.

1. Each picture you enter in the Ozimals First Evah! Photo Contest must include an Ozimals bunny. Photos should not include other breedable animals.

3. Entrants are limited to a maximum of 4 (four) entries total, 1 (one) entry per category. No matter how many categories you enter, you may only win once per avatar.

4. Photos are preferred to be high-res and cannot be smaller than 1024x1024 pixels. Aspect ratio must be square.

What's going on with Ozimals? What are we up to now?

A whole lot actually...Let me explain :)

Ozimals has had tremendous growth over the past 7 months and that is because of YOU - thank you!

We’ve been scrambling to keep up with everything that needs doing.

We know you want a few simple things (and so do we):

* better, clearer communication.
* more predictable and consistent response to issues.
* solid fixes for problems along with solutions to make the tricky parts of bunny parenting easier.

So... WE HAVE A PLAN!

We have been listening to you and we have a plan for doing better all around so we can support and grow Ozimals. Here are the first steps, and they are already in motion.

1) We have hired a professional project manager. Why? To help us organize how we get things done and make sure they’re getting done more effectively and more reliably.

Joel Foner (Joel Savard in Second Life) has joined Ozimals and will be working with us to improve our internal procedures, guide software development and coordinate with our CSR group and the community. You’ll meet him in world very soon because he’ll also be closely involved with the Ozimals community meetings that we'll talk more about in just a bit.

2) We are expanding our software development staff. Why? More people can do more things! With more people, we can fix things faster, make sure the fixes work better, and add new cool stuff more regularly.

3) We are about to start a series of regular Ozimals community meetings inworld, held at multiple times to accommodate users in many time zones. Why? So that we have a regular chance to talk “in person.” So we can hear directly from you about things you like, things you don't, and suggestions you have for us - plus we can share what we are working on and get your feedback!

Ok, this all *sounds* great, but when does it actually start happening?

Surprise... the answer is not "soon", it starts NOW!

Joel is already hot on the trail of some additional professional programmers, folks who have experience across the software development industry and are keenly interested in Ozimals. We’ll have more news on this when things are finalized.

Ozimals Community Meetings (weekly - open to everyone)

The first meeting will be this coming Monday August 30th at 12 noon SLT and we will have another at 6 pm SLT for our different time zones.

At our community meetings, we will talk about current news, community questions and introduce "The Ozimals Oracle" - quick "How Does That Really Work?" mini-lessons on care and feeding of Ozimals bunnies, breeding and interaction, and troubleshooting tips in areas requested by you. Come by to meet Joel and ask your questions about the future of Ozimals! (We will send out a notice with the location this weekend.)

Greetings Bunny Friends! Well, there are quite a few things to cover in this edition of Bunny Bytes, so let’s “hop” right in shall we?

First, I’d like to say thank you to all of the bunny owners who have exhibited great patience with us over the past month or so. We are very grateful for your support. For those who have been frustrated, we truly understand your position and we want to apologize. We understand that we borked it good. There’s no doubt that we have stumbled a bit, made some mistakes and frankly had a pretty spectacular episode of growing pains.

Malk and I have clearly seen that we need more quality people on board to help us keep Ozimals working as it should be and also to help develop some of the cool ideas we have planned for the bunnies plus other plans that have been stuck in development. There reaches a point where no matter how dedicated you are, one person (or two, or even three people) simply cannot do it all. We’ve taken the step toward hiring an expert in project management and quality control to help us restructure how we do things as a company. There are some big changes coming for Ozimals, changes that will benefit the people that matter the most to us – our customers.

At the Second Life Community Convention we made some great contacts that will really help us get to the next level in product stability and support. Our goal is to keep Ozimals at the quality level that you have come to expect from us. We will do our best to make that happen as quickly as possible!

On that note, Ozimals is hiring! We need people who are interested in being greeters in the store and also customer service representatives *especially* during the Euro time periods. We will be posting a link to a web application form early next week for interested residents to apply. If you love bunnies, have time to devote to a job in SL and think you would be well suited for a position with us, keep an eye out for that link and submit an application!

Please note that this is *just* the initial set of Bunnybury items and there will be a constant flow of new goodies that you can purchase with the reward coins.

The Bunnybury system is completed; all that is remaining is the testing of the vendors. The vendor system has been alpha tested and will be going into beta sometime next week. Once the vendors have been fully beta tested and any bugs found fixed, the program will launch. Our goal is the middle of next month at the latest, but preferably earlier.

The Food Reward Vendors are also completed and have been alpha tested. We are looking for people interested in beta testing these vendors now; please file a ticket using the “Beta Test Application” subject if you are interested in helping us test these. (Note: this is just testing the vendors themselves and they will be delivering empty prims, not actual food – sorry!)

Ozimals Orientation and Ozimals University (OzU) are complete and should have their grand opening the second week in September. We think this will go a long way towards helping new people – but bunny owners can also probably learn a thing or two from going as well Wink You will get free gifts just for going through the Orientation and there will be diplomas from the University! If you are interested in being an Instructor for OzU, please file a ticket using the “OzU Instructor Application” subject and Flitter Moonwing will contact you with more information.

SocialBun is in the last phase of alpha testing and we will be setting up a web application form for beta testers. We will send a notice with the link to the form early next week along with the job application link.

Ozimals at SLCC!

Ozimals is proud to be a Level Three Sponsor of the Second Life Community Convention 2010 in Boston this year! SLCC organizers put out a call for sponsors and Ozimals was happy to give back to the Second Life community by helping to bridge the gap between SL and real life with this convention.

Candy, Malk, and Elphaba are here at the convention in Boston to spread the word about Ozimals to new people, network with other residents to help expand the breedable pet market and meet some of our customers face to face. If you happen to be attending, please find us and say hi!

Rezzing Issues 8/7

We've had several reports of bunny errors last night and today - asset server fails (failure to rez an object message), bunnies disappearing when attempting to take into inventory, and bunnies that do not complete the nest creation process.

This is not affecting all bunnies, just some of them. We are working to troubleshoot the issues now. In the meantime, Ozimals strongly recommends that you avoid breeding, kindling or rezzing food unless absolutely necessary while we try to assess the problem. We are keeping an eye out on the SL Grid Status page as well for grid issues that might be posted. We will post a notice with the all clear when we are comfortable the issue is resolved.

Important Information About Ozimals Exploit Patch

As some of you may be aware, a change implemented in 1.3 designed to reduce incorrect parent generation distribution created a new bug. The bug would occasionally produce double nests without generation loss, generally on those same overburdened sims but also during lag spikes and other periods of high server load.

Ozimals began receiving reports on July 17th of using this bug to exploit and create multiple nests. The vulnerability exists because it was possible to use a set of parents to get multiple nests by picking them up in the second that the nest was created to avoid the drop in love and gens.

As soon as we received the reports we immediately began around the clock work researching and preparing a fix. We completed the fix and began testing just a few days later and have gone through 5 internal betas to completely close the exploit. Changes with the birth process must be handled carefully and tested thoroughly so as not to create more problems than are solved.

While the coding team put a fix together, Malk and I began to gather data on the number of occurrences and who the owners were. The vast majority of instances were one time only. However, there was a small group of around 30 people who clearly exploited the situation. Those people have violated the Ozimals Terms of Service and per the section below have been removed from the game, their bunnies have been removed from the grid and they can no longer own Ozimals products:

"People who exploit, scam, cheat, or cause grievous problems amongst the community could have their pets removed from the grid and be denied the right to participate in Ozimals games, present or future. This is not a step that we will take lightly, but we will take it if necessary."

We have comprehensive data on every single nest produced using this exploit and those of you who unknowingly purchased nests produced by these banned sellers WILL NOT be penalized or have those nests or bunnies removed from your possession.

Some of you expressed concern that we did not immediately come forward to announce there was an issue. There are two reasons for that. One, we wanted to spend the time working on the fix and gathering data on the exploiters. Two, we didn't want to give information out that was not common knowledge before we had a fix ready to go, because that would only cause more people to attempt the exploit.

We are wrapping up testing and should be releasing the patch in the next couple of days. Since this is an exploit fix, you MUST update your bunnies within 3 days of the release of the patch. Please start your preparations now for the upcoming patch.

We also are doing extensive data tracking and will be running these data reports several times a day until the patch is out and all bunnies have been updated - we will investigate all instances that occur and will continue to remove people from the game who attempt to exploit while the update is in process.

If you currently have extra nests accidentally produced by this bug from bunnies you own, you need to file a ticket at http://support.ozimals.com. to get those turned in and your account removed from the investigative process.

We understand that this is a serious step and we do not take it without a great deal of data and research. Our primary goal is to protect our customers and the integrity of the game that you play. We appreciate all the support we were given while we took the time needed to handle this situation properly.

If you have any questions please use the support portal primarily and alternatively, the thread we will be posting in the forums. We are going to have to continue extensive work to get this patch out and may not be able to monitor chat as frequently as usual to answer your questions.

Come join us on the Magic of Oz and Ozimals sims for a Summer Strawberry Festival and hunt extraordinaire featuring gifts from some of your favorite creators. Collect strawberries and redeem them for sweet treats you can take home and enjoy well into the Autumn months!

Magic of Oz/Ozimals Strawberry Festival Hunt Instructions

1. Pick up a basket for collecting strawberries. Baskets can be obtained on the Magic of Oz sim as well as the Ozimals sim.

2. Once you have your basket, find it in your inventory and select wear. The basket will attach to your right arm and, if you turn off your AO, it will animate you with a hold animation for the basket.

3. Search the Magic of Oz and Ozimals for strawberries. When you find one, click on it and it will magically appear in your basket.

4. As soon as your basket holds six strawberries, a dialog menu will pop up with a list of stores offering hunt gifts. Make sure you use back/next buttons to see all the available stores. There are 16 in total. Select the store you would like to get your gift from and click its corresponding number on the menu.

5. You will receive a fork for the store of your choice. Find the fork in your inventory and select wear. When you equip the fork, it will tell you what store it is for and in which sim that store can be found, Magic of Oz or Ozimals. Go to the correct sim and find the store.

6. In each participating store with a gift you will find a delicious Strawberry Cake. Get close to the cake, within 2 meters to be exact, and click on your fork. You will receive your gift.

7. Fill your basket 16 times to receive all the forks and collect all the awesome Strawberry Festival gifts!

8. Once you have gathered up all the tasty treats from the Magic of Oz and Ozimals merchants you can turn the basket into a collectible gift from Ozimals. Clicking on the basket when it isn’t completely filled with strawberries will give you the “Done” option to end the hunt, which creates a permanently full basket of berries and deletes the hunt script.

Special Notes:

**If your menu times out and your basket is full you can click it again to retrieve the menu.

**If you crash with your basket full, the next time you log in the blue menu will automatically appear. If you have a choice of where to log in make sure it is "My Last Location” and not Home.

**If you crash with a half full basket of berries, you will not loose them. They will be there when you log back in and you can keep hunting.

**If you take the basket off and want to continue hunting later, the basket will remember how many strawberries were in it when you detached it and let you resume collecting berries when you reattach it.

$2800USD Donated to Yéle Haiti Foundation by Ozimals Community

Shortly after Ozimals officially launched the bunnies on January 9, 2010, Candy Cerveau and Malkavyn Eldritch, the leaders of Team Ozimals, made a decision in response to the horrific earthquake that leveled much of Haiti. They decided that the proceeds from the first Elite Ozimals bunny, the [europa] Alien Bunneh would be donated to help ease the suffering and devastation caused by the earthquake. Candy and Malk chose to send any funds that were raised to Yéle Haiti, a foundation started by Grammy-Award winning musician, producer and social entrepreneur Wyclef Jean to assist his native country of Haiti.

The [europa] Alien Bunneh made its appearance at the 2010: The Future is Now fashion extravaganza hosted by Rezzable on their Greenies sim. On sale for only two weeks, the Ozimals community came out in force to support the Haitian people and make this six-eyed, robo-space bunneh feel at home on the Second Life grid. In addition to sales of the [europa] Alien Bunneh, the Ozimals Team also set up a donation kiosk at the main store where donations earned you a keepsake Alien Bunneh Money coupon.

The Second Life community is known for its generosity, and in the face of the Haitian earthquake they once again accepted the gauntlet and gave from their hearts to support a broken country and its people in need. Sales from the Ozimals [europa] Alien Bunneh and donations to the kiosk at the Ozimals main store allowed for a total donation of $2800USD to the Yéle Haiti Foundation. In the end there might have been room for only one name on the donation, but in reality that $2800USD was the result of hundreds of contributions from people across the Second Life grid logging in from around the world. Thank you for helping us raise that money. Thank you for being part of the Ozimals community. Thank you for showing that virtual connections can become real life contributions that help change the course of events in the world we all share.

The Easter Bunny just loves Ozimals. It is his kind of place, what with all the cute and cuddly bunny love hopping around, so he got together with the Ozimals team and concocted a special surprise just for all the bunny fans. From Friday, April 2, 2010 at 12:00:01 AM SLT through Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 11:59:59 PM SLT there is a chance that every Version 1.2 nest kindled may produce an Elite Easter Choco-Bunneh - 2010 for you to have for your very own!

Admit it, it has always been your dream to have your very own bouncy choco-bunneh to snug and huggle with ears you can nibble on but that never get any smaller. Only Candy and Malk could think of such a perfect Easter present for everyone.

In addition to the chance of getting an Elite Easter Choco-Bunneh – 2010 from every Version 1.2 nest kindled between April 2 and April 6, there are Easter baskets overflowing with the treats bunnies love to eat. Available now in the Ozimals store are delicious holiday goodies including all your Easter favorites from colored Easter eggs to jellybeans. To celebrate the season, in addition to pellets, hay, carrots and bok choy, for a limited time there is now Easter inspired fare for your bunnies to munch. Set out an Easter Basket this April and give your bunnies a junk food high. When you purchase from the Easter vendors, you will receive a folder of selections including food in Easter Basket form, pastel colored water bowls, and a combination of assorted chocolate and marshmallow energy treats. Please be aware unlike us, bunnies eat Easter Baskets whole. Do not open the Easter Baskets! You will break them and make your bunnies cry! And just because the Easter Baskets are so uber cute, Candy and Malk wanted you to keep them as a holiday decoration after the bunnies have stuffed themselves full of chocolatey goodness.

More Details about the Bunnybury Program!

As promised, here is a list of the initial items that will be released in the Bunnybury program. Please note that this is just the initial wave of items and we ~will~ be adding more regularly.I will basically explain the system but complete instructions will come when we release the program of course.

We've set up a tiered system based on how you earn and redeem coins. The number of coins earned or the number of coins you decide to spend that week determine what tier you can purchase items from in each weekly session. What this does is enable the smaller seller to get items as well as larger breeders. Some items will be transfer and some will not. Again, this is to ensure that everyone enjoys the system regardless of the number of nests you produce.

Tier I:

2) Copper Cargo Ticket
3) Bunny Brush (Interactive item)
4) Nest Dye - Colors
5) Random Bunny Nest

Tier II:
1) Happy Stump (Redesigned)
2) Silver Cargo Ticket

5) Bunny Nest with increased chance of recessives

Tier III:
1) Love Potion

Cargo tickets can be purchased through the Bunnybury program for Ozimals.

Cargo tickets are turned in to the Bunnybury train station manager (or whatever we deem is a good turn in location).

80% chance to get random items that are not tier rewards.
20% chance to get something from tier II.

Silver Tickets:

80% chance to get something from tier I.
20% chance to get something from tier III.

Gold Tickets:

80% chance to get something from tier II.
20% chance to get two random items from tier III.

Now, I know what you really want to hear about...how many coins will each item cost? We want to be careful to tread a line between making the items have value and keeping the Bunnybury coin prices reasonable so we are finishing up research so we can set the correct prices. We've gone ahead and released the planned list to get feedback and so that you can see what you are turning 1.1 nests in for, as a few people mentioned that they would like to see the items before turning nests in. Look for item coin prices coming next week sometime!

All correctly submitted 1.1 nests that were submitted in the proper time frames have been processed. We will announce another time for turn-ins soon on the blog and via notices.

Cha-ching! Cha-ching! Hear those coins jiggling together as nest after nest is turned in for Bunnybury credit. Excitement is growing as bank accounts start to bungle with gold Bunnybury coinage. Interested in knowing exactly what you Bunnybury balance is? How much credit you have stocked up to be able to spend on fabulous prizes when Bunnybury officially opens? Well wonder no more, the Ozimals Bunny: Bunnybury Vault Counter is here!

What is Bunnybury you ask and how do you get the fabulous prizes it will hold? The special, exclusive Bunnybury items that will only be available for purchase with Bunnybury coins, like Ozimals Bunnybury variation bunnies. Lucky for you I have the answers! Bunnybury is an exchange of sorts. When it is open, it will allow you to exchange your extra nests for Bunnybury coins that you can accumulate to purchase Ozimals items that are only available through the BunnyBury store. Right now the Ozimals team is still hard at work putting the finishing touches on Bunnybury so its not officially open yet, but Candy and Malk know that there are some Version 1.1 nests that are ticking away toward expiration in the next week. With this in mind special arrangements were made to accept Version 1.1 nests this week and begin crediting Bunnybury accounts. The response has been enormous and Bunnybury accounts are starting to bulge with the newly minted golden Bunnybury coins.

In real life everyone loves to be able to tip their piggy banks upside down and run their fingers through all those shiny collected pennies. It's no different in Second Life, we all want to know how many golden Bunnybury coins we have so we can start dreaming of ways to spend them. Now you can do just that. With the Bunnybury Vault Counter, every hour on the hour you can check to see how the coins in your account are stacking up. I get a twinkle in my eye just thinking about all those golden Bunnybury coins that are mine, Mine, MINE! I have to check my balance again right now!

In order to get your Ozimals Bunny: Bunnybury Vault Counter so you can obsessively check your account just as often as I will, just follow these simple instructions.

To obtain your Counter all you need to do is come to one of the announced locations and touch the Bunnybury Vault Counter Vendor. You will receive your "no copy, no mod, no transfer" Bunnybury Vault Counter within a few moments. Take the package home and once it is rezzed you will be able to use it to check your Bunnybury account balance one every hour. The other 59 minutes of each hour you can daydream about ways to spend all those lovely, shiny, sparkling, radiant, golden Bunnybury coins!

Fine Print:

Each avatar will be allowed only one Ozimals Bunny: Bunnybury Vault Counter, so you will want to observe a few precautions when attempting to obtain your Counter from the vendor. If there are a lot of people in front of you all trying to access the vendor as well, it is advisable to wait your turn or try going to another location. When in use, the coin on the vendor display will turn red. If the coin is red, do not attempt to click the vendor to obtain your copy of the Bunnybury Vault Counter.

Once you have gotten your item there will be NO redeliveries. There is a check for being in busy mode so there is no reason why you shouldn't get your Counter. Please do not IM the Ozimals staff to ask questions about not receiving this item. The only way to get the Counter is to click one of the three vendors available. If the vendor says you already have your item then you will not be given a replacement. Thank you.

For the next week, from March 30, 2010 – April, 5, 2010 the Counters will be available at the following ten locations, after that they will be available only on the Ozimals sim.
